I got the impression that Stendel has taken lessons from Nicola Sturgeon. rach question which threw a negative light on him and his team was answered "I don't remember". It's a joke and should be thrown out completely not delayed.

With the courts facing a massive backlog and travel restrictions between UK and Germany, this could take a long time for things to resume. Is there not a way of arranging with German authorities for Stendel to use Wifi at local library/court/police station? He was in a German court apparently. There is a worldwide internet issue today I assume it has been a victim of this. Would have thought it was easier to try again tomorrow and have a translator to hand rather than all the cost and trouble of a re-trial. Would not be surprised if the case is dropped due to delays.

I find it amazing how an internet problem means they need to restart the whole trial again at a later date rather than just say we will try again tomorrow. especially as it is scheduled for 5 days, so they were pencilled in for court. it's not like they are stopping another trial going ahead Judge wants to go to Skegness for a bit of sun.

Would it not be far easier for JB to apologize for what ever he has supposed to have done, and for him and Stendal to sort this in amicable manor out or court and drop the charges so that this episode can be put to bed. Otherwise it could drag on for another 12months or more. That's assuming JB actually has anything to apologise for as the evidence against h seemed weak from what was alleged yesterday. The best thing would be for Stendel just to say he's had enough and wants the CPS to drop the charges. The CPS must have thought there was enough evidence for a conviction. It sounded from the bits and pieces I have read that the argument is as simple as answering the question of who or what made Stendel faceplant the iron railings in the tunnel. All evidence seems to point to it being Barton (witness statement, video footage of them entering the tunnel etc) - so not sure JB just denying it was him is going to be a good enough defence..?

The witness statement seemed flimsy at best and the video 'evidence' inconclusive from what is being reported.

Absolute joke that trial has been stopped due to small technical issue. Bottom line is the evidence appears flimsy. There comes a point when the whole thing is an embarrassment to the legal system. No one should have to wait as long as Barton has for the chance to clear their name. Could easily have sorted technical issue over night and continued. Otherwise time to drop the charges.

The lawyers of both parties need to get together out of court and sort this, if JB is at fault in anyway he should man up admit what he did and apologize, with the understanding that Stendal will drop his evidence. I don't care what happens to JB but the longer this carries on the more the clubs name gets reported in reports on the case which does not do our reputation as a family club any good. Club comes before any manager, and it doesn't look good that we employed a manager with a criminal record that is in the news again.

I can’t see how another 12 month delay will be allowed or make any sense for anyone involved. I think the case should be thrown out due to the circumstances and Mr Barton and Mr Stendel settle this outside of court and move on. From what’s been reported so far and the evidence presented, a conviction seems unlikely anyway

How do you know the evidence is flimsy? They were only half way through questioning the first witness and none of us saw the videos or photos shown to the jury yesterday.

All you have to do is read the prosecutors opening statement. He is either very bad at his job or he has very little to present as evidence. I thought it sounded as though he even doubted he had much to go on himself.

Seems like another case of people reading their own prejudices into a report to me ..... The only thing that seems clear to me is that this is a farce. UTG!
