bobbyjones, He was a far better footballer than most people will ever be.No way will we say TaTa guilty or not. It would be stupidity to get rid of him after allowing him to bring four players in and plenty more to follow.

Our manager thinks hes seven foot tall and hes only five foot six, he also thought he was a footballer but his temperment let him down. He knows hes guilty we should say TA TA now. "Thought he was a footballer" he played at a higher level than you could ever dream of and represented his country, the agenda is laughable 😂

That's assuming JB actually has anything to apologise for as the evidence against h seemed weak from what was alleged yesterday. The best thing would be for Stendel just to say he's had enough and wants the CPS to drop the charges. The CPS must have thought there was enough evidence for a conviction. It sounded from the bits and pieces I have read that the argument is as simple as answering the question of who or what made Stendel faceplant the iron railings in the tunnel. All evidence seems to point to it being Barton (witness statement, video footage of them entering the tunnel etc) - so not sure JB just denying it was him is going to be a good enough defence..? What evidence though, I assume the tunnel was packed with players etc, if so, then why did only one player see the alleged push, all the video evidence apparently showed was Barton running into the tunnel, it seems there are four possible scenarios, Barton did push Stendel, somebody else pushed Stendel, Barton just accidentally bumped into Stendel or Stendel simply tripped. The case could succeed or fail solely on how good the witness comes across in the box, assuming he can recall what happened three years after the incident.

I see Stendel is off to join his new club Nancy in Eastern France next week. Hardly likely to want to rush back to the UK for the trial in the foreseeable future if at all.

On what basis is he guilty, the prosecution's case seems flimsy at best, there must have been around 20 players and coaches in the tunnel but only one witnesses the push, what were they all doing checking their boots or something? All the CCTV evidence shows is Barton running into the tunnel not what he did inside the tunnel.

And he can't speak a word of French either, so hardly likely to improve his English!

I don't understand what the translation issues were, I assumed it was technical problems but it doesn't sound like that was the case.

Joey was actually quite a good footballer though? He isn't going anywhere, will be able to get a picture with him at Melksham. UTG.

Blimey Topper, the number of people you say must have been in the tunnel grows with every post you make. First it was 'some', then 'a lot' and now twenty. Basically almost everyone on the pitch.

I wouldsay the entire Fleetwood team and coaches were on their way to the dressing room and those players that din't wave to the fans or just wanted to get home early. The Barnsley coaches, and maybe the officials as well. So, any number of people were in that tunnel. Would be great to discoverit was the ref that pushed him 😁
