I’m thinking if we had him on our side in the Sainsbury’s court case not only would we have won but we’d have been given half of their South West property portfolio as compensation and somehow wangled it that Bristol City were not allowed to be resident within 50 miles of Frenchay!

Only thing that troubles me about this is the fact it’s at crown court, probably because of his previous. If it was at a magistrates it would be a lighter deal IMO. Yes, I'm no expert but I believe with these 'either or' offences if it goes to crown court it's in part because the likely sentence (if found guilty) exceeds the six month limit at magistrates courts If this is trialable either way, then initially the defendant elects Mags or Crown at the initial plea hearing in the Mags. If the defendant elects Mags then the Magistrate decides whether they accept the case or whether they pass it up to Crown. If found guilty Crown can pass heavier sentence. I haven’t followed JB’s case but either he elected Crown or the Mags passed it up to Crown. Advantage of Crown is usually greater accuracy of law and procedure being observed. Downside is if found guilty. If he elected Crown, his legal team must know what they are doing

Anybody else got "Norman Stanley Fletcher" going through their head? Joseph Stanley Barton you are an habitual criminal who views arrest as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner........
