Well, at least it's starting to feel like a traditional matchday thread! Goal!!!!! Well that never happens for starters.

Just one big Media Circus. I saw and with other parents and Coaches break up a mass brawl with an U15's game a couple of weekends ago. Are they in Court? ? I don't condone violence one bit in any form or situation. But really is it that big a story. Clear from what we have heard today that the claimed assault and the injuries not as bad as had been suggested in some earlier reports about head butting and tooth loss etc. He's not going to prison for this even if found guilty. Still ashamed we opted for him as manager but at least we will have a manager and at worst one with little free time if he gets a community service order.

Well, at least it's starting to feel like a traditional matchday thread! We need the laugh button š. But at least we have seen the match, usually. Here we have comments about people having seen worse when... they havenāt actually seen anything. There are plenty of assumptions being assumed on here when we need to leave it to the court to decide. UTG!

I despise violence with a passion, I genuinely do. But I guess the point is, I don't want the Club I love being dragged through the media gutter because Joey is a target. Love him or hate him he is a media target, he's been brought in because Wael has decided that he is the right man for the Job, and ok if he allegedly has had handbags with someone, then let justice prevail. Why does everyone keep bringing it up. How often have we all seen it at every level of the game, from Kids to Premier League, I just want to focus on the Gas, and what an opportunity to win the league. Not many teams pro or non pro can say that they have won their league.

Maybe he was in a rush to get to the Loo and ran in to him ... Maybe it was a deliberate and cowardly act... Maybe Stendel looked to block him and there was a collision... Cant help feeling though that this could all have been sorted there and then ... Apology, even a false one and handshake with a look of concern. Feels like Stendel wants his pound of flesh and now we are here in a high profile court case. Wonder if Wael will be called as a character witness and someone to keep him in check going forward.

If it had happened on the pitch would it have got this far. I'd assume a similar alleged scenario in a match situation would be he ran along touchline and knocked him into the dugout. Would have assumed the ref would have done something and the F.A. would have upped the fine or suspension. When is the ref 'off duty?' It's not quite Schumacher v Battiston 1982 What goes on the pitch, stays on the pitch Question, does anyone think that will change and that on pitch occurrences may end up in the courtroom or is it an occupational hazard

Itās pretty clear that saying āseen plenty worse lolā isnāt referring to āI am the sole person to have seen the video where Barton does or does not push Stendelā IMO. And more importantly does it make it right that he's seen worse. If you've seen someone murder someone then does it make it right to see someone rape someone? Ffs give it a rest mate

When people are referred to as having a 'great legal brain', I guess that means the rest of us have illegal brains....
Just as well we're hiding them in our heads....

Even one of the Barnsley players tried to make it sound worse than it was and soon deleted his tweet From memory he said Stendel's face was covered in blood, something the prosecution barrister also repeated yesterday, which is hardly surprising if he lost part of his tooth. I don't understand why some posters try and down play what happened, how many of us would be happy if we felt somebody had pushed us into a post and we'd lost part of a tooth as a result? Although whether the prosecution can prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was Barton who caused the injury seems debatable, when there only seems one, non partial, witness who claims to have seen it, why didn't anybody else see it in, I assume, a crowded tunnel.

One of the quotes from The Sun at the time:- āBarton headbutted and punched him and put his hands around this throat,ā one witness said.
This is quite different to the details given in court yesterday - no wonder some people already had him, hung, drawn and quartered.
Strange that quite a few people posted about what they'd "seen" on Twitter, yet only one witness gave a statement to the Police which actually included details of what he'd seen.

So a scrappy half, Barton just edging it 1-0 at the break.
Very few chances, and the crowd seemed very subdued and complained at not having a good view behind the goal.
Hoping for a better 2nd half and more chances to fall his way to wrap up a dour fixture so he can move on and the supporters can get behind him for the rest of the campaign.

Not sure we were watching the same game... had it 0-0 at the break but more of the chances going to Bartons opposition in the form of opening statement, video submission and an eye witness. I believe that today, Bartons opposition will come out strongly with a Stendel video link before Bartons team can get out of their own half Funny old game

Joey seems more like the square upto and punch type rather than push from behind and run off. You haven't read the facts of his previous assaults then. Doesnt matter. He isnt on trial for previous assaults. If you get caught speeding 3 times it doesnt mean that you were speeding every time you get stopped in the future. He is on trial for this incident and this incident needs to be proven.
