People who accept defeat, will never achieve net success. That’s just a fact. We got 2 relegations last time, followed by 2 promotions and now a relegations. That’s 2 promotions and 3 relegations. A net result of one step in the wrong direction. It’s time Rovers fans stopped being lackeys and started having some ambition. In wanting something new, different for the football club, I believe I’ve showed plenty of that in this thread.Following on your comment about me on the other forum for calling you out, you called me “the rudest poster” you’d ever met and “impertinent”, so I’m not sure you really want to communicate with me!! I’m a bit confused as earlier on I seemed “decent” on this thread. I’m slightly puzzled, not for the first time I have to say. I. Sorry to be thought of as “impertinent”, I’ll promise to doff my cap in future and only speak when spoken to! 😉 But...and if you could answer I would be grateful. Why are we lackeys for, presumably, having a different opinion from you? How do we lack ambition? We had a totally crap season but I still want to see us play as high as we can. Just because others have a different opinion from you doesn’t mean they are lackeys or they lack ambition. And that is exactly what I mean when I accuse you of showing disrespect, sowing dissention and being a WUM. Do you not realise that calling fellow posters “lackeys” is really not helping your case? This “something new, different”, what is it, a different owner? A different way of doing things? Again you’ve not said what it is. You’ve suggested you have put reasoned arguments yet have yet to put forward an alternative to WAQ who has been funding us through these awful times. Saying you’ve made reasoned arguments in your response to Hugo is not the same as doing it. As others have said people with the necessary financial muscle are not banging down our door to take us over. Of course WAQ has made errors but he has all done some very good things as highlighted in bluestick’s very full post. Seriously, who do you have in mind to take us over? I’d really like to know this person who will solve what you’ve said is our financial worries and who will build our new ground. UTG! ps. And finally, don’t disrespect Big Jock. He doesn’t need me to support him, he can do that himself but he always posts with total respect to others. Pretty sure you could learn something from him. 🤔 Would it help if I called him a Dam nauseating w**ker to knock you off top spot as “the rudest poster” ?

Had it confirmed to me today that Wael is giving Joey a L1 budget to get us out of L2 at the first attempt. I thought Wael’s latest drive was for sustainability, that’s gone out of the window then. This is what I mean about trust, he says one thing, does the other. If we were losing 3 million a year on a L1 budget in L1, how much will we lose in L2 on a L1 budget? And people question why I’m so concerned. If the circumstances change, then often the plan needs to change. Unfortunately football isn't an exact science, some players who come with a good pedigree just don't produce the goods at a different club - look what happened to Torres when he went to Chelsea - we've had a few of those signings ourselves. Wael obviously thinks that he's got the right man at the helm, and is prepared to invest in him getting us promoted - I hardly think this is something we should be moaning about.

2 relegations and 1 promotion were before Wael even arrived.. I’m sure that has some relevance lol Stated this time and time again but the 2016 promotion was not Wael’s and has nothing to do with him. Oh sorry, I should pay more attention to everything you state lmao

So why did fans decide to carry Wael down Gloucester Rd rather than Nick Higgs? Regardless of that who's going to find this new era when Wael has been removed by the harrystokegas protest group?

Do you know for a fact that he's not? Nope, but as I stated, I look at circumstantial evidences and emerging patterns to draw my own conclusions. Thank god you don’t try to turn your circumstantial evidences and emerging patterns into farcical arguments against our ownership including setting up too much interference against not getting involved enough as both being conclusive against the same individual….oh wait. Time to put the smoking gun away before you shoot your other foot off. Me and the other lackey types will stand against sh** stirring unsubstantiated smear campaigns every time. When we can see an owner clearly concerned about how a football club interacts with its community, helps that club survive a pandemic economy hit and commit to spending on both the playing staff and their training facilities then we’re going to cut him a little slack if his managerial appointments don’t work out or his idea of a youthful self sustaining squad process is mistimed being introduced in the wrong league with the wrong managers and coaches at the wrong time. Well meaning owners bankrolling our team who have some misjudgments on their record we lackeys can tolerate. Unimpressed agitators determined to back change for changes sake during rocky times for everyone who can’t even present their arguments coherently or succinctly other than gainsay what the last poster just told them…no time for them.

He doesn’t need me to support him, he can do that himself but he always posts with total respect to others. Pretty sure you could learn something from him. 🤔 Look mate, I’m really not here to discuss who is or isn’t rude, that’s really not the conversation I want to be having. This is a Rovers forum and all I want to do is discuss Rovers, really that’s all I want. You want me to answer your question, so I’ll give you the courtesy of answering. Rovers fans aren’t (in general) lackeys for having a different opinion to me. Such criteria is completely irrelevant. Rovers fans are lackeys for putting their undying trust in Wael, meanwhile the club suffers relegations, leaky finances, discontented managers, decent chaps in Mansell and Hamer fired ect. A lackey would accept everything its told and support it till the bitter end, as I see many on here want to do. A sceptical, critical person such as myself challenges that side of thinking. We say to ourselves, hang on a minute, if every press release is so wonderful, every letter so correct, why isn’t the club I love dearly making any kind of progress? The answer is, we’ve been too trusting, let Wael have a free wide to continually make mistakes over and over again, whilst not putting any pressure on him to make reforms. This is utter negligence on our part, I can’t put it in any less stronger terms than that. Yes, I want something new and different. If you’re concerned about something, it’s only natural that you’d desire change in order to rectify such concerns is it not? Wael just isn’t the man I foresee taking this club onto better things and I’m not going to beat around the bush on this fact. Who do I have in mind taking us over? Well I’m not the one sitting in the boardroom examining takeover offers. However in general I’d want people with the financial means to be able to confidently cover our losses and put in a proper action plan to make us more sustainable. I’d want business nous and if it were a consortium, I’d want experience of running a football club. People have scoffed at me for saying this, but these things really aren’t out of our reach. As for disrespecting big jock, you need to read my posts back if you think I’ve done that. He’s someone who has continually mislabelled me as bitter and part of the old clique of the Higgs era, which I can assure you I’m not. All I said was he comes across as more of a parody than an actual Scotsman, which is nothing to be ashamed of because if he is a parody, he’s a very good one. Funny too. You know what, if you want to take this any further mate, I’d be happy to buy you or anyone else a beer and discuss it face to face in Bristol or the vicinity. Maybe putting a face to the poster might change your opinions. If you want to take that offer up, all you have to do is PM, and I’ll happily oblige.

Unpredictable as well we all know. I’m more banging on about the business side. There are people that say that business is unpredictable, it really isn’t. You do the right things, generally, you get the right results. Torres scored against Barcelona in a Champions league semi for Chelsea and played there for 5 years. I’m just hoping that Wael is right, at the same time fearing that he isn’t. Do I have confidence in Joey? Not much but willing to give the bloke a chance and my support for a season.

The thing is, those of us who were on the old official forum and 606 remember that Higgs was constantly criticised for all the opposite reasons Wael is (not pumping in enough money, not splashing the cash enough, not writing off the debt). Now Wael is doing all the things those people wanted, most of those same people are saying Higgs was a golden era. It's difficult not to believe that those voices aren't just there because they always want the club up for sale because they hope they might be the one (or ones) to buy it.

It's difficult not to believe that those voices aren't just there because they always want the club up for sale because they hope they might be the one (or ones) to buy it. Well let me explain myself. I criticised Higgs for taking out the Wonga loan, I criticised him for going through managers like a moth goes through fine cloth. I even cast doubt on his ability to take us forwards financially after it became apparent that he wasn’t willing to put any more of the Cowlin sale into the football club. However I never once doubted that he didn’t have the right intentions at heart, that he didn’t want us to build a new stadium or achieve success. Higgs wasn’t a golden era, but it was an era of transparent communication, actually putting an effort into creating a project to deliver a new stadium and staying true to intentions and not twisting and finding some new cool fad of running the football club every time the wind changes. We now have an owner, that got into football by going to university in the 80s and supporting Chelsea, who views us as a distraction, a little play thing while the real world happens around him and his brother Hani puts actual effort into keeping the investment bank alive after the sad passing of his father. He might have the same passion as Higgs, but he doesn’t exemplify the same understanding of how businesses in Britain are run. Higgs came into owning rovers, a success business man having succeeded in the construction industry, his business was sold to Balfour Betty in a multi million pound deal ffs. All Wael’s wealth is inherited, I personally find it a bit sad that he’s decided to water it away on an underperforming football club rather than invest it, spend it on his own happiness or give it away to charity. I want nothing to do with the purchasing of BRFC, a waste of money if you ask me. However it is true that I know people that would be more forgiving in their assessment and willing to take the club on given the right assurances.

No, my own opinion. I suggest if you don’t want to hear negative opinions, that you so crassly label sh** shitstirring, then the internet is not quite the place for your precious little soul. The interaction from the community has been full of false promises or ‘oh we’ll do better next times’ simply not good enough. You then state a few negatives, well done, maybe me and you see more eye to eye than previously thought. Bankrolling? Please look up what conversion into equity is good sir, it isn’t the same as wiping off the debt and thus certainly can’t be considered bank rolling. Indeed Wael doesn’t has the means for any bankrolling, which is something the very man tries to make clear through his evolution not revolution rhetoric. A way of saying, progress will be slow if progress at all, as I don’t have the means for it. Unimpressed? Yes, that I certainly am. I don’t want change for the sake of it, I want change because I’m legitimately concerned for the future of the football club. It would break my heart to see us turn into another Bury, I wouldn’t be the guy putting in all the ‘I told you so’s’ even though I’d have every right to at that point of time.

These are examples of sh** stirring... A certain mod made a rather unpleasant threat to me via dm. Won’t name names but the poster in question ought to be ashamed of themselves. (June 9th) turned out not to be an unpleasant threat. If you make exceptions, the whole stack of cards falls down. `Mods should be on it pretty quick. Well there we have it ladies and gents, the mods on this site allow this sort of behaviour. You’ve opened the floodgates to a torrential flow of name calling, toxicity and unpleasantness with this I do hope you recognise this. But hey ho, I’m not not in charge of this site. All I’ve come to do is engage in civil debate but it seems like you can’t get it here, if you bizarrely don’t adhere to some bloke with an owl in his profile. (All June 11th) This is not opinion is it “You then state a few negatives, well done, maybe me and you see more eye to eye than previously thought.” No, I have been critical of speed of progress when evolution became stagnation and led to DC losing patience and spending less time on managing the team and more time trying to manage the owners who at that stage were keeping the handbrake on Wael. Now I feel Wael is fit for purpose even if some decisions have not been...because those same mistakes are made by many other chairmen up and down the country, only 10 EFL clubs a season get promoted and 9 EFL clubs a season get relegated. We were one of the unlucky 9 and I hope next season we will be one of the lucky 10 -depends if Wael’s recent decisions have been better than those he made last season. So I’ve posted three times on the two main threads you’ve interacted on (open letter and this one). We don’t see eye to eye at all. You mention in one post that WAQ racked up £20million he couldn’t afford...well the proof is he could and did afford it. It was a cash injection at the initial stage of his evolution not revolution project that remained debt until a family tragedy unexpectedly gave him the means to turn it into equity but the debt was always ringfenced inside Dwayne Sports and they guaranteed the survival of the club when taking it on. I used to work in investment banking for 30 years so yes, I know what converting debt to equity means....and Wael will only get any money back when selling his shares but those shares are only worth what the club is currently worth ...when he bought it there was just one asset, the Mem. Now there are two (the quarters being the other) but there is no certainty that Wael will recoup all of the outlay if and when he sells his stake. He’ll absorb the difference and gladly too as that is his premium for becoming a club owner in the first place. Meanwhile despite one curtailed season and one behind closed doors season where income has dropped off a cliff apart from some iFollow revenue. Wael has guaranteed our continued existence and given his managers a competitive budget which they blew. Wael has pointed to several other owners generously keeping their clubs afloat to illustrate how they all have collectively responded to COVID. Apparently, your concerns have led you to the conclusion that we are another Bury or Macclesfield in the making and yet it was my observation of Wael’s reaction to the Bury debacle that strengthened my opinion that he would never allow that fate to befall us. I expected a big retrenchment and tightening of our belts so was pleasantly surprised by the training ground expenditure, the timing of the conversion of debt and the ability to set aside a decent budget on the playing side. You then raised the restructuring of the back room staff as a negative against Wael. Some cuts had to be made somewhere and some staff were more important to our onward progress than others. Keeping them all on would be the sort of profligate spending that you warn against. Then you went on your contrary arguments that 1) Wael is so hands off he’s let a kid loose in a candy store to 2) Wael won’t even let Joey decide which players to release and personally made sure James Daly left the club... that is when in my view you stopped having “genuine concerns” about our owner and instead began shaping any scenario into a misdeed perpetrated by an owner you want to oust. The reference to Oyston etc followed...my views on that low blow are already recorded. I know the others are right and really I shouldn’t be answering the WUM or feeding the troll...but well now I’ve retired I don’t mind firing off a few words that I know will fall on deaf ears.
