Seven consecutive defeats
Not scored at home since McCormick second goal against Doncaster that's 394 mins at home without a goal !
Barton pre match interview said not interested in progressing in this cup competition. The team were outplayed for most of the game.
May throughout looked dangerous and subs Sercombe and Vassell made them stronger our subs made no impression. Playing Taylor up front when 2 down did not work.

Just got back from the match, what a complete waste of time and money that was!
Don’t think I’ll bother going back until we have a striker and some creativity in the midfield.
Defence all over the place and off pace
Midfield non existent! Grant and Westbrook appear to be just as bad as last season. Created absolutely nothing again
Nothing up top all night, no service and not one shot until the 90th minute! Injuries have played a part in not helping but this is shambles.
I’m really not sure what our tactics were tonight either. Pass around the back 4 then lump it forward with no target man on the pitch!! Awful!
First game at the men in 2 years nearly and what an utter let down!
Poor crowd tonight too, appreciate it was a cup game but 1st game back in a long time and it appears a few old faces have disappeared. Hoping for a better turn out Saturday

Yes it's terrible, that much is beyond dispute but I'm prepared to wait and see what might be achieved over the next 9 or 10 games. A degree of realistic optimism is maintained on my part. Back to ten more games even though we've just played two. It's 2020 all over again![/quote My hater 10 games was always league games. As much as the result this evening looks terrible on paper, does anyone really car about this cup? For me, 10 league games at least 5 wins. So 9 to go and a 55% win rate for those 9 games.

Its midfield players we need back and playing Too many remnants in the 11 of failure from last season in that area still.a stick would be a better player then having Westbrook in midfield

Although I don't think Barton is the right man for this club, I'm not going to be getting too depressed about this result with an experimental team in a now-meaningless competition. I'm sure the meltdown will arrive sooner rather than later, but not this evening. I was in support of his appointment but you can't avoid the fact that he has been an utter failure in every respect so far. I doubt even the most ardent Barton haters would have expected him to be so bad from a football perspective, but at least he didn't disappoint them off the pitch. Well as I said, I think the judgement day (not just in court) will arrive soon, probably very soon, because his time in charge has been a catastrophe. But tonight is not the night to come to that conclusion.

We desperately need a target man, like Hawkins for Mansfield, that's what you need to be competitive in this league. Sadly it will take half a season for us to realise that. Even with our strikers fit, we don't have someone who can hold the ball up and create trouble for the opposition defence. We are soft again.

Appreciate we have injuries but think JB got tactics all wrong tonight. 2 CBs playing as wing backs and the CMs sitting deep with no link to the front 3. Front 3 very wide and no link between them. Here’s hoping for more players to return on Saturday!

It will be a while before anyone runs onto the pitch and throws their season ticket at the dugout in disgust. 😉

Disappointed.
Without players up front who can hold the ball we were on a hiding to nothing against the dirty Northern ........
With physical and/or clever front players we might have been able to play between the lines. Unfortunately, we didn't have the wherewithal.
Results are only going to improve when Pitman, Collins, Hanlan, Saunders and one other are fit and available.
Until then.........
The Robins had some genuine front players.
We didn't.

I didn't go tonight, but haven't we just fielded what would be a B team? There were quite a few changes made and still need Nicholson, Pitman and few others back from injury.
I am quite happy Joey uses cup games to experiment and rest players, it is the league 2 games that matter.

Anyone know what the attendance was? Someone earlier said it was poor, though I quick look at other games tonight and it looks like pretty low attendances all round.

Do you genuinely believe the forum is full of cocks because they are questioning the form of the team and managers decisions? I don’t think we have ever had a manager who polarises views so much as JB. If you disagree are questioning form/results etc you are a cock or a hater. I don’t remember any other manager getting such support with the run of results and performances we have had. On the other hand there are some who simply hate JB and would do even if we were winning. I think our performances and form are/is sh**e. Nothin against JB personally but I suppose I willl have to accept it makes me a cock or a hater…..👍 In my eyes I’m neither by the way!! its towards the ones, who are calling for him to be sacked! We have 1 striker fit, probably about 6/7 regulars missing? Let’s judge when we have a full squad. As another poster pointed out, we’ve played a team that’s one of the favourite of our league, and another that won our division last year! I think some need a little perspective.👍🏽 There are two types on here, those that see Joey Basham for the person he is and are ashamed and embarrassed he is the manager of our club and those that are seduced by his celebrity. Putting that aside, his record is very poor and amongst the poorest of any Rovers manager in history. Yes I know there are mitigating circumstances and I believe he was given the benefit of the doubt by most for last season (including me). But he has been in complete control of the club since the final whistle went v Blackpool. This is now his squad and he is responsible for it. From what I see pre season was no better than the pre season he described as negligent. Making excuses for him now is just blind faith. I agree if we had a fully fit squad and able to field our best eleven we may get better results but I doubt with the squad we have we will be able to put out our best eleven more than a dozen times this season and that will not be enough. He will be gone in either November or December anyway when he gets convicted of one or both crimes. When do you think it will be appropriate to start a poll on our next manager?

Whilst the league games are more important, as well as instilling a winning mentality, we were being told a while ago that a cup run would bring vital additional funds to the club, so to write it off seems stupid. Not sure poor performances like tonight are going to encourage fans back either.

Does anyone care about this cup ? Gotta be honest I didn’t even realise we had a game tonight ( I’m on holiday) . Lots of strange results tonight .
All that said , it’s still another defeat and the pressure is growing . Think he’s only got 5/7 games left before he really has to get this show on the road or he’ll be on his way.

Only JB decided on blaming the previous pre season and the medical staff (which he then replaced as he said they were sh**e), now we find ourselves in pretty much the same situation with injuries. So is JB gonna say that the current medical team is sh**e and sack them?

Agree with the second part of your post but re the first part there is more than two types. I’m in the third camp , no idea if he’s guilty of what he’s been charged with ( but wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest) but willing to let the judicial system do it stuff. As for his celebrity, I couldn’t give a flying . Just want a manager that wins games and is successful.

This really is a depressing start to the season but when you look at tonight's team what did anyone expect. Kilgour right back, the useless Baldwin back in the team, the even more useless Westbrook in the starting 11 all topped off by a lone not very big striker playing up front on his own. It was never going to be easy getting rid of the dross that was assembled last season and tonight's a big reminder of how bad these recalled players are. PS Almost forgot to mention Grant, another waste of space. See you all on saturday UTG.

It will be a while before anyone runs onto the pitch and throws their season ticket at the dugout in disgust. 😉 I saw someone throw one onto the pitch before Christmas in the buckle era. That has to be a record? (Probably a wise decision from them)

Looked like a team of strangers tonight for the majority.
Saunders and Anderson for me are only ones who come out with some level of positive.
Anderton didn't have a forward pass in him. We had a back four of all Cb.... Good luck with no support wingers.... Liddle also so negative with his passing and moving.
The lack of pace and apparently ability to get the ball down and carry it forward was shocking. Players looked scared to dribble with the ball, most looked more rushed to get rid of it straight away.
If that was a chance for some of the rotation players to stake a claim for a place, certainly didn't look like it.
