What differentiates an "old fart" from "experienced pros" like Craig & Ogogo or Lines, McChrystal & Mansell, I guess none of them were signed by Barton? Ogogo is 31 - he was 29 when he signed for us. Chris Lines is 35 - he was 20 when he made his debut for us and 29 when he signed the second time. McChrystal is 37 - he was 29 when he signed for us. Lee Mansell is 38 - he was 31 when he signed for us. So in answer to your question what differentiates them ... age does. No he’s not . |

Evans and Whelan seem like reasonable signings (Crewe and Morecambe fans seemed keen for Evans to sign permanently) Brown and Clarke are past it but could seemingly fill a gap in the squad, and Archer would be a great addition, though I would be reluctant to pin all my hopes on a young loanee. |

I don't happen to think that 29 and 33/34 are really the same age though. Maths tells us that's a difference of 5 years which is over 30% when you consider a football player probably has a career of about 15 years.
