Thanks mate , I’m bloody useless with modern tech , I must be getting old ! Age is just a number Okebourne. Unless you're a new Rovers signing apparently.

It's the hope and expectation that kills you! I think you’re doing a disservice to cigarettes and pork pies.

Joey in his post match reckons he could get “to that 18 maybe even 19.”
Numbers might be wrong, point is he reckons he still might be able to deliver one or two more.
Meanwhile I’m dying for a pork pie.

When I look at the age of the squad I think it's a sequel to Escape to victory, probably Escape to the National league! 😂
Really uninspiring signings, with all his contacts in the premier league you would think he could get the best young striker on loan, from say Burnley?

Not detracting from any of the three signings made yesterday as they may turn out to be great additions but to my untrained eye we haven’t got enough goals in the building for a promotion push . We needed a striker , big strong & mobile who could chip in with at least 10-15 goals…….
Concerned but not surprised ! 🙄

Personally I think we're lacking a mobile no9 type player who would score us 10-15 goals and bring the likes of Nucholson, Thomas etc into the game. However, we saw last night we do have goals in us from other areas of the pitch so I dont necessarily agree with the general deadline day doom and gloom. Yes we've brought in some players the wrong side of 30 but people seem to be overlooking the others we've brought in, I dont know ages off the top of my head but Saunders, Collins, Thomas, Anderson, Taylor, Finley, Spence, Evans and Anderton are all likely to play a decent part in the season. The squad is fixed now until Jan, let's hope that when the next transfer window opens we dont need another major overhaul

There seems to be a lot of agest fans on here I would rather have a fit talented player in their mid thirties like Whelan that has played over 90 times for his country, than someone in their early twenties who is unfit and injury prone and we have had our fair share of those over the years.

It’s tricky - we signed Burnley’s best young left wing back last year on a permanent despite them wanting to keep him and he was subsequently released by us at the end of the season

For those who are worried about us signing Clarke and Whelan, don't forget that the top Serie A sides have always thrived on using players who are in their late 30s and sometimes early 40s.
If they're fit enough they can bring so much experience to a team, and teach the younger players a lot.
I would assume we've decided that they are fit, in which case we should be excited by their calibre and what they can do for us.

Content:
Brown- is here to be back up. Needed someone who naturally plays in that position with Clarke's absence. If he does well and claims the shirt, great.
Clarke- good signing for me.
Evans- mystery box.

When you are playing kick and rush in L2 with inept tactics....it's a different world

In th past we’ve signed young, old, hard men, ballers, proven, unproven, speedy, slow, experienced, young potential players….some have worked out but if we’s honest most rarely live up ta what we all would love them too. Mainly because you dont often get diamonds sign for lower league clubs , of which we is one.
Hopefully we have signed players who will come in an do th job we need them ta do, let’s save our judgement whether it be happy or disappointed for when they’ve played a few games.
Personally, I genuinely think th turn about has begun, an I look forward an tbh even expect September ta see us get positive results.

I can never understand why Wael's content to spend £m's on the training ground but not on the playing squad. At least he's prepared to spend it somewhere at the club. Hopefully Clarke can be the big No 9 we've needed in both boxes since JCH left, even if it seems unlikely he'll score many goals.

I guess we're doing what we always do after every transfer window, writing off players before we've even seem them play. If Whelan helps us to promotion, or at least the playoffs, that's really all he needs to do.

Are you actually looking at the age of the squad??? The majority are of a decent age. Before we lacked experience, which we have no rectified. I think you’re actually looking at the age of a small percentage of the squad. Last night we had Finley who has recently turned 29, but runs all day. Then the next youngest was Nicholson at 26. That includes the player’s that came on! We signed an experienced left back, to cover for Clarke. Clarke is only 23! Collins and Saunders only turned 24 in may and June. Anderson is also 24. The older player’s that recently signed, we’re on trial for 2 weeks. So had to prove their fitness. It wasn’t like we just gave out a 3 year deal, so they could finish their careers doing nothing.

That's a fair point, realistically without spending any money we would have struggled to get that sort of player in unless it was a loan and we paid a percentage of their salary. I'm not against Clarke's signing, if he's trained for a couple of weeks we must be confident he's fit enough. I do think the players around him have goals in them though, if he can be a focal point to bring others into the game when he plays we might well find it creates more for the likes of Nicholson etc

Good point well made, just a bit disappointed with the squad he has assembled. Too early to say yet. I think we are lacking a number 9. But a lot of the other player’s, are still settling in. Keeping Nicholson and Annsi are big pluses for me. 2 in 2 now for Nicholson who is getting back his fitness. Taylor has impressed me the last two matches. He’s quicker than I thought he would be and he looks good on the ball, for a player of his height. Out wide we are definitely stronger. Nicholson, Anderson, Clarke, Thomas. Plus the youngsters and Collins and Saunders can play out there. Anderson did a job at right wing back yesterday and has played on the left. He’s not the best defensively, but can cover both sides if needed. Thought Saunders looked better out wide, than though the middle and he had a good game. Put in some good crosses and got a goal. Hoping Clarke can still do a job as a number 9, as he will have players like Collins and Nicholson around him, doing the running. Was he ever that fast?? Think we are all disappointed we didn’t sign another number 9. But overall I think our squad isn’t that bad. I just hope we don’t struggle with goals again like last season. Just have to hope Pitman gets fit.
