Wheater Whelan Clarke Nugent Harrison as a bonus. Bus Pass FC Would be a bit of humour if they had a blue rinse

Think getting rid of Anssi would be a bad idea. He’s the ultimate safe pair of hands if Belshaw gets injured or goes through a bad run of form. I really like the competition in that department at the moment.

Unfortunately annsi seems to be injured more then not. Only seems fit when called up for international duties

I think Anssi sadly may be on his way he was sub at Exeter and not even made the bench on Saturday. I've not heard of any injury but may have missed that. I also hope that we keep hold of Alfie I am sure he may have several better offers. We certainly need a striker just hope we manage to get a decent one before the window shuts.

Surely we need another keeper if we lose Ansii? A lot of clubs only have one senior keeper at this level. Then if they get injured, they can bring in an emergency loan. Some only ever loan keepers. Last season a keeper was on loan at Peterborough and got promoted. Then he went on loan to Lincoln in the play offs, as better loan keeper they had, got injured! When you only get 20 or 22 player’s in a squad. I can see why clubs do it! As you can sign keeper’s out of the window, if one gets injured. But you can’t sign another striker, centre back etc

I'm not expecting any decent signings and am now more concerned that we might lose one or two of our decent players.
If we sell Alfie or Anssi then we really have lost the plot.
What if someone swoops in for Nicholson though!?

Barton said he was injured and not risked. But I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him go.

What if someone swoops in for Nicholson though!? Can see why we would sell Annsi, due to the squad sizes and him going on international duty. Unless he retires, most clubs don’t have 2 keepers over 21, with the small squad sizes. But we have to, due to internationals.

Wheater Whelan Clarke Nugent Harrison as a bonus. Bus Pass FC When I criticised Garner for signing a load of inexperienced players I was not hoping for the absolute complete opposite when he got the chop. We should be looking at players in their mid to late twenties with something to prove alongside young and hungry players, who’ve been blooded in, but haven’t yet fully come out of their footballing chrysalis.

I do half wonder if Nicholson’s lack of 90 minutes is a bit of a tactic to avoid prying eyes. Maybe I’m being cynical. Agree about keeping Alfie, going to be an interesting few days that’s for sure.

So have Man United made a big mistake signing 36 year old Ronaldo, should Jimmy Anderson never play for England again because he's 39?. We have no idea of how fit these guys are so perhaps we should just wait and see, rather than assume that once your over 35 your not up to it.

To succeed in this division the teams are usually made up of experienced players.whelan will add more to the side with less running and a few passes then a reject from a premier league development squad who looks good in training

There will be the odd Cureton who is in great shape and able to keep going as they approach 40. My problem is that in the modern game they are the exception and far from the rule. And whilst they may be able to perform well this season, they won’t have longevity in terms of transfer value or ability to scale the leagues with us. We’re building for the immediate, not for the future. Then there’s the sheer scale in numbers. We need balance.

Our strike force when we were last promoted from this division included the likes of Taylor, Harrison and Easter, with Bodin scoring goals for fun from a wide position. The highly rated Oli Mcburnie couldn’t get a game. If that is the standard, we look well short.
From the games I have seen so far this season, it appears that we are yet to rectify last season’s problems. We look sluggish at the back and lack any sort of creativity in the final third.
I don’t believe that 36 year-old Leon Clarke is the answer. 25 apps and 4 goals in two years is hardly inspiring. Is that an improvement on Ayunga or Daly?

We of course had to make an exception by having an international keeper who would also miss games due to call ups. Not to mention his recent injury record. I hope Ansii stays but it would free up a place in the squad.

I just get the feeling that all is not well with Anssi and do wonder if all the chopping and changing of goalkeeping coaches has helped the situation?
I also worry that Alfie is well down the pecking order under the Barton regime and I would be disappointed if Barton offloads him as I think with the right management and coaching there is a good league 1 central defender there despite some lack of pace.

Well it needs to be … on the transfer front. Expectations from me …. Pretty low other than Clarke + Whelan in and a surprise or two. Jakkola - Westbrooke - Barrett all out - i truly hope he hangs on to Alfie . Why the obsession with Kilgour? He had one good spell when he first broke into the team, and even then people only said that he looked promising. He always has a mistake in him and has never quite made the mark. A player who needs another challenge in my opinion.

Looking back Taylor,Harrison,Bodin and Easter seems pretty prolific. But what did we initially recruit. Taylor a moderate non league striker.(1 in 5 gpg ish ) Harrison came through the ranks. Bodin an injured player who looked like his career might be over. Easter a journeyman (as most would call him) actually an experienced player but had only scored about 14 goals in the previous 4 years or so. So, not really awe inspiring players entering the squad. They did however blossom and do the club proud. So maybe over analysing potential new players is pointless ? ?
