Only expecting one or two to come in and maybe the same going out
JB's 5 in is just pie in the sky to cover his inability to get the right players to start with
Typical scatter gun approach by a manager who is out of his depth in the transfer market

What is the deal with keepers in the squad numbers? I’m not au fait with the regulations and I’ve seen posts that suggest goalkeepers aren’t included in the 20/22/whatever it is. Not sure, very confusing having read several threads on here!
Para 43.9 appears to be the key one.
For Leagues 1 and 2 there is a limit 22 players of which 8 must be homegrown.
In these leagues players under 21 and goalkeepers do not need to be included in the squad list to be eligible to play in league matches. The club is expected to inform the EFL of those players not on the squad list they consider to be goalkeepers.

They could be world beaters and it would still be a bad idea to sign 7 players who are in their mid 30's in a desperate bid to gain immediate promotion. How sustainable is it to bring these guys in on one year contracts, and be left with a huge gap in the squad when they inevitably retire or their deal runs out? It's Wael's money but he's bonkers if he's funding these type of moves imo, reeks of short-termism. Football is short term, very few build for the future,as for end of season turnaround of players that seems to be a regular occurrence at most clubs,we had the opportunity for a long term view under Garner however,us the fans couldn't stomach the results and here's where we are, sometimes you dont get what you wish for in life . Very few build for the future, and that's why very few clubs have sustained periods of success. The misconception that you can only be successful in League Two with a squad of old cloggers is laughable. Teams like Sheffield United and Brentford haven't made their way up through the leagues by signing 35 year old journeymen, they've recruited players aged 20-25 and sold them for good fees when adequate replacements have been found - that's the difference. We would still be a League One team now if the board didn't panic and discard Garner imo.

Has that changed for this season then?? Don’t think it mentioned keepers and last week it was still saying 20 for this season! If this is the case, that’s good. As that’s an extra 4 player’s allowed from what it said before.

Well it needs to be … on the transfer front. Expectations from me …. Pretty low other than Clarke + Whelan in and a surprise or two. Jakkola - Westbrooke - Barrett all out - i truly hope he hangs on to Alfie . Anssi is one of the best keepers in Leagues 1/2 ffs

Anssi is one of the best keepers in Leagues 1/2 ffs I didn’t say I wanted Anssi to leave… despite his constant breaks from playing for us I have been one of his biggest fans. I am saying I think he will leave .. That said he is always injured it seems unless on international duty as 3rd choice … Not sure we can keep carrying that.

The problem with Annsi could be that to continue to play at International level even third choice he may be expected to be playing regularly above League 2 level. Henbury Gas can hardly see that the players JB has brought in shows he is out of touch with the Transfer market. Instead quite the opposite. the importance of gelling the players together can be seen with several of our players from last season continuing to ply their trade in League 1. I would say our squad now consists of much better quality players but only time will tell whether they can gell to a good side.

Jed Ward is recognised as a talented young keeper and capable of being deputy to Belshaw. Jaakkolla too injury prone for me.

Probably taking his skills to the garden and struggling to tell a Rose from a Nettle.

Swindle with a new squad and an inexperienced manager 3 wins and a draw! Not seen much proof on the pitch we have better payers than last season.

It still says 20 on the website under the rules, for this season though. Does anyone know, which one is right??? Not sure which website/page you're referring to but the link I've shared is to a live page on the EFL website, which can be reached navigating through the main menus (i.e this isn't an archived page which can still be accessed through a search engine), which subsequently links through to the full set of regulations for 2021/22.
The 20 player squad limit was part of the now aborted hard salary cap which was introduced at the start of last season. The squad size limits were retained for this season but finessed/watered down (depending on your viewpoint).

Have posted exerts from both on a new thread. Both are from EFL website. The 20 squad size is the most quoted on other sites. Who know which is correct?
