Is there some objectivity out there for JB? I.e. he is a flawed character that rubs a lot of people up the wrong way, but has charisma and passion for the job. He did a decent job at Fleetwood and when we are firing we look very good indeed, but on the whole our results and league position haven't been good enough. I don't think the sun shines out of his arse, he says some ridiculous things, he's done some ridiculous things, but he is not the antichrist and we have finally been showing signs of promise, and I want him to get us improving and to make a second half of the season playoff challenge. Must do better, please. Now get us shooting up that league JB. If he did assault his wife, he should not be our manager, whaterver the results. We won't now that for certain until at least March, by then we'll either already be making a play off challenge or our season will already be over, top 7 wise. If he is convicted I'd imagine he'll immediately appeal the verdict, if so, he could well still see out the season as our manager.

Which period was that, as I don't recall it I thought his whole time as our manager was a big disappointment, Wiki seems to support that POV? "He(Graydon)led Rovers to a 20th-place finish in the Third Division in 2002–03, before he was sacked in January 2004, with the club then in 12th-place and fans beginning to turn on him and his "negative football."" Was Graydon sacked, I thought he disappeared without any formal announcement?

No - you don't get it - you've completely missed the point. My point is you were blaming DC for relegation to the conference. My point was that if you were going to blame DC for that, then by extension you'd HAVE to blame Barton for last season. Indeed - but it isn't a fair comparison anyway. DC only had 8 games to keep us up (0.875 PPG) JB had 18 (0.611 PPG) ... and then DC took us back up at the first attempt (and then another promotion immediately after for good measure). It remains to be seen how JB does - but it isn't looking good. Factor in its a lower league and DC was already at the club I’d say he had a bigger role than 8 games

Now that is being selective!! Yes, Man City would never have been multiple Champions without Sergio Aguero’s goals. Liverpool wouldn’t have been.... Wycombe, whether you like them or not were the same. Had a style, not good to watch but nearly survived in the Championship and would have done if the EFL, with regard to how Derby cheated, had a pair of b****. I’ve no idea if we were going places but we certainly avoided League 2 and tbh I don’t care what he did at Mansfield. All I’m concerned is what he was like here and he gave us our highest League position this century and moulded a team with fight, organisation, and a will to win and he did it with another manager’s players. I’d would have loved that last season. It wasn’t the best football to watch, you’re right, but certainly not the worst. Blimey, did you see Graydon’s or Atkins’ (when he had lost the dressing room) and Buckle’s and ...... ? GCs team was different and he had to do what he did because we failed in the Summer before to get a decent forward. Of course JCH’s goals were important but we signed him and for once a forward signing paid off. You can’t blame GC for that by saying “it was mainly DCs team and JCH”. It might have been DCs team but let’s face it he didn’t get anything out of them, that was left to GC. Irrespective of whether you liked him or not. Let’s not rewrite history. UTG! Rewrite history? And in the same breath you say the Graydon team was worse? We played amazing football under Graydon, those were my happiest years. He was well worth the contract we gave him. Sometimes I think we watch different games. When I was a wee tiny boy, I wrote a letter to my two favourite footballers, asking for an autograph. George Best and Ray Graydon. Man Utd sent a printed sheet with all the players' autographs. Now I know these superstars were busy, but I was disillusioned at how corporate and soulless it seemed. Although I wouldn't have used those words then. Ray Graydon wrote me a really nice letter thanking me for supporting him and Bristol Rovers. He then became my proper favourite. Not a good manager for us though. Did very well at Walsall, in a sort of inverse turn of fortunes if comparing him to DC.

What about the year we showed Halifax who was boss? Didn’t he sign the silky skilled cultured midfielder Sir Hunt? Seriously though, the only years I didn’t go to Rovers were the Graydon years. I had discovered clubbing and was DJing professionally so football took a back seat. I remember after last watching rovers under Holloway snd then saw a random game under Graydon and I really was ashamed of the level of football and that James Hunt typified it, he looked like a pub team player to me. We had one player who looked like he could play and that was Carlisle I think? That was the worst team I saw rovers put out - also the Mark McGhee era was appalling too. A load of Crocked Scots, those were some dark days too

Yes I have. But he has a long way to go to convince me after last season's throwing in the towel and blaming the world for his own shortcomings. Winning 5 of 13 in the last couple of months, throwing away leads, players getting sent off - does not add up to a good motivator. So if it wasn't JB who motivated them v Oxford (x2) and Rochdale who did? I'm not really sure how you can blame JB for Finlay getting sent off so early v PV nor Harries two sending offs. The thing is, the manager sets the tone. Whilst one or two of the sendings off were debatable, violence off the ball is not, and I think we have had 3 of those this season. Each time it has cost us points. Yes it is down to player's stupidity, but the manager sets the tone for the whole team. And a couple of good results (Oxford and Rochdale) were very welcome, but motivation has to be consistent, not for the odd game. I think I am right is saying we have yet to win 2 games on the trot this season - truly appalling.

Pretty sure it was Ian Atkins who signed James Hunt from Oxford where he had been. Never played for Graydon.

To be fair to Graydon, the club was very close to administration.
He had the budget for about 18 pros and then with injuries and suspensions he had to fill the squad with likes of Haldane, Arndale and Hobbs from the youth team.
Good job the sharescheme happened as we has the money to stave off relegation and even more importantly pay off some of the serious short term debts.
If Graydon or GC had JBs budget, I doubt we would be anything less than top 10.

How GC turned us around when he took over from DC was impressive, it does begger belief Wael was just content to let him leave.
