GC squeeked every game 1-0 with an awful style of football. Not really my cup of tea but i get that it was better. JB isnt the worse manager in our history, loads have relegation on the CV, one of them even got us relegated into the Conference.
On position basis are we saying that GC is the best manager we've had in at least the last 10 years?

If you're going to blame DC for relegation to the conference, you cannot have any argument whatsoever that Barton got us relegated to L2. Only difference is Barton's team has more red cards than wins!

DC relegated - then two promotions, maybe we should be giving JB more of a chance, afterall Rovers getting promoted from L2 was DCs biggest achievement that JB could yet match - the new greatest?

No - you don't get it - you've completely missed the point. My point is you were blaming DC for relegation to the conference. My point was that if you were going to blame DC for that, then by extension you'd HAVE to blame Barton for last season.

DC only had 8 games to keep us up (0.875 PPG) JB had 18 (0.611 PPG) ... and then DC took us back up at the first attempt (and then another promotion immediately after for good measure). It remains to be seen how JB does - but it isn't looking good.

This IS a joke right? We have a bunch of players that turn up inconsistently, can't hold a lead, and have very poor discipline. GC showed himself to be a far superior manager to JB. He inherited someone else's players, didn't whinge, motivated them , and got us up the table. JB inherited someone else's players, blamed everyone and everything apart from himself, produced some dire performances and results, and got us relegated. You don't get to 4th in League 1 with an awful team. But you do get relegated with an awful manager. Coughlan would have taken us down the season before without JCH and nowhere near 4th without JCH. Donāt you remember us climbing out of the mess with non stop JCH goals? You can absolutely get to 4th with an awful team, if you have one excellent striker. MaraDonna won a World Cup on his own. GC was amongst the worst football Iāve seen, we would have been near the bottom if it wasnāt for JCH. If you genuinely remember that era and think we were going places then I feel for you. It was the Ipswich result and subsequently leaving which got him rose tinted. It was mainly DCs team and JCH. He failed abjectly in the league below and that tells its own story, Now that is being selective!! Yes, Man City would never have been multiple Champions without Sergio Agueroās goals. Liverpool wouldnāt have been.... Wycombe, whether you like them or not were the same. Had a style, not good to watch but nearly survived in the Championship and would have done if the EFL, with regard to how Derby cheated, had a pair of b****. Iāve no idea if we were going places but we certainly avoided League 2 and tbh I donāt care what he did at Mansfield. All Iām concerned is what he was like here and he gave us our highest League position this century and moulded a team with fight, organisation, and a will to win and he did it with another managerās players. Iād would have loved that last season. It wasnāt the best football to watch, youāre right, but certainly not the worst. Blimey, did you see Graydonās or Atkinsā (when he had lost the dressing room) and Buckleās and ...... ? GCs team was different and he had to do what he did because we failed in the Summer before to get a decent forward. Of course JCHās goals were important but we signed him and for once a forward signing paid off. You canāt blame GC for that by saying āit was mainly DCs team and JCHā. It might have been DCs team but letās face it he didnāt get anything out of them, that was left to GC. Irrespective of whether you liked him or not. Letās not rewrite history. UTG!

He did indeed - but there again, DC had recruited AND coached most of the team and could not get them to play which suggests that GC was a good motivator. I have yet to see evidence that JB can motivate players - certainly failed last season. Presumably you haven't seen any Rovers games in the last couple of months then? Yes I have. But he has a long way to go to convince me after last season's throwing in the towel and blaming the world for his own shortcomings. Winning 5 of 13 in the last couple of months, throwing away leads, players getting sent off - does not add up to a good motivator.

So if it wasn't JB who motivated them v Oxford (x2) and Rochdale who did? I'm not really sure how you can blame JB for Finlay getting sent off so early v PV nor Harries two sending offs.

Is there some objectivity out there for JB? I.e. he is a flawed character that rubs a lot of people up the wrong way, but has charisma and passion for the job. He did a decent job at Fleetwood and when we are firing we look very good indeed, but on the whole our results and league position haven't been good enough.
I don't think the sun shines out of his arse, he says some ridiculous things, he's done some ridiculous things, but he is not the antichrist and we have finally been showing signs of promise, and I want him to get us improving and to make a second half of the season playoff challenge. Must do better, please. Now get us shooting up that league JB.

And in the same breath you say the Graydon team was worse? We played amazing football under Graydon, those were my happiest years. He was well worth the contract we gave him. Sometimes I think we watch different games.

Which period was that, as I don't recall it I thought his whole time as our manager was a big disappointment, Wiki seems to support that POV?
"He(Graydon)led Rovers to a 20th-place finish in the Third Division in 2002ā03, before he was sacked in January 2004, with the club then in 12th-place and fans beginning to turn on him and his "negative football.""
