I barely ever get takeaway but really craving a Ruby Murray. Recently moved to Fishponds anyone got any recommendations and whilst we're on the subject, what do you order from an Indian takeaway?

I get my curry takeways from - indianjunction.co.uk/Downside it's on Gloucester Road, not far from the ground. Had one from there on Friday night and it was banging!

Arjee barghee on Soundwell rd and Chilli Massala in Staple Hill are good in that neck of the woods.

The one in Staple Hill nearest Page Park won the Evening Post Golden Poppadom competition as the best in Bristol about 10 years ago.
To be fair, plenty of options in Fishponds and nearby areas. The one just off the main Fishponds Rd, by the bus stop near to the Coral might be veggie? but is always quite full so must be good.

Abdul’s in cardigan , wales , best Indian food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating , I’m a huge fan of Indian cuisine and have actually visited India on many occasions due to having family out there and Abdul’s truly is better than any of the food I’ve eaten over there !!! Bit of a trek though on a Sunday night as I’m almost certain they won’t deliver over here 😂

Went through a series of ownership and name changes about 5 years back. Reopened without dining about two years ago as Chilli Massala. Not the same people but decent nonetheless. Shadins up the road used to be alright but hasn’t been the same last few times I’ve been but I find a lot of Indian takeaways and restaurants to be a bit like that.

Yeah Tandoori Nights was the one I was thinking of.

Brunel Raj in Clifton is the best I’ve had in Bristol by a country mile.

Brunel Raj in Clifton is the best I’ve had in Bristol by a country mile. Thought you meant the Bristol Raj on Alma Vale road. I used to live a few doors up, and bear in mind I love curry. I had 2 and they were so bad I never went back, absolutely disgusting and both times I had a very bad stomach, gross in the extreme.

It’s very hard to consistently find decent curry. I cook my own BIR style (search Misty Ricardo on YouTube) and they are better than 90% of curry house (which often seems to be purreed veg, curry powered and red food colouring.
You will often find the same curry house will do a good one one day and a bad the next. This is because it’s down to the chef, not the curry house.
One chef left one restaurant and went to another one and I followed him across town!
Extremely difficult to find a consistently good curry house for this reason.
