I barely ever get takeaway but really craving a Ruby Murray. Recently moved to Fishponds anyone got any recommendations and whilst we're on the subject, what do you order from an Indian takeaway? Eastern Taste,St Mark's Road,BS5. I enjoy their chichen Jalfrazai with pila rice.

No. Only beef, lamb or chicken. Reminded me of the Scott Mills Pizza phone pranks;

Two pages in and nobody has mentioned Urban Tandoor!
Since I've left Bristol though, Tandoori Marsala on Worle High Street is the best around here.

I’m not far away in Wick St Lawrence and have been to Zak’s Kitchen which is the small place opposite. It’s been quite nice but nothing to rave about. Just decent. I always get put off by the reviews of the Tandoori Masala and it’s not all that inviting from the outside. On scale of 1-10 how good is it? A friend of ours raved about the Curry Gardens in town, we had a good sit down meal there but 2 terrible takeaways so not been back since. We also had another awful takeaway from the one opposite the curry gardens which name escapes me.

Always amazes me how bad the names of Indian restaurants are..like they sat down for 30 seconds and it was a unanimous vote for something clichéd.
I mean would you open an English restaurant in Mumbai and call it The Big Ben, The Frying Pan or The Roast Beef Garden?
Actually that last one might be a name too far. Ooh err.

We've never sat in TM tbf, and only ever had lovely takeaways, my parents love a curry and when they come down they're always keen that we go there - say it's a good one from all the dozens they've tried, pretty cheap too.
See I was put off by Zak's for the reasons you say! Heard only bad things about their delivery service.

Whenever you're abroad and you see those cliched English/Irish pubs, or Fish & Chip restaurants they're always trying to ape British names. I don't get why people go to those places, but that's a different story!

I’m a bit funny about delivery services so always drive down and pick it up. I get it home quicker and hotter and if there’s an opportunity for a swift half of kingfisher whilst I’m waiting then all the better. I might give TM a try now!

I always collect nowadays after bad experiences with drivers getting lost, turning up an hour late and the food being cold and soggy if you're at the end of the drivers' drop. It's a bit of a pain getting the car out sometimes but it's better than sitting around the house muttering "where the fluck is that curry?"

There is one restaurant we get deliveries from and that’s Labyrinth Smokehouse in WSM. Absolutely amazing food but the woman who owns it does the deliveries with her daughter and they always say, we’re coming in your direction at X time so we understand if you can’t wait. Which I don’t mind because the food always turns up bang on time and piping hot
