Anyone had toilet disasters after all this curry? Once. Me and an old girlfriend who I had been dating for a couple of months came to stay with me in Bristol (she lived in high Wycombe) for the first time. On Saturday evening we went out to a curry house at the top of whiteladies road. Evening was ok, few drinks afterward and we went back to mine. I woke up about 3am that night full of pain in my guts and feeling a bit embarrassed because of it. At that point I realised my gf wasn’t next to me in bed but in the bathroom with the same pains and passing through the eye of a needle! We spent the next 2 days like that and it certainly broke the ice on puking and farting etc!

Anyone had toilet disasters after all this curry? All I'll say is don't have a curry and beer the night before an away game, public toilets were dire everywhere in the 70s and 80s,and as for football toilets, bloody awful

In the days when you used to have to wear a tie and trousers to get into a club, I once went out for a curry before going to the club, drank my taxi fair and had to walk home from Odyssey night club to Brislington. Long story short I had to take an immediate dump on the way, I sat with my back against a wall in a sitting position and had to wipe my arse with my tie.

Anyone had toilet disasters after all this curry? Recently had a takeaway from Saffrons in Bradley Stoke, I was fine but my wife had a few issues, shall we say. Didn't realise at the time but their hygiene rating had not long dropped down by quite a bit.

I hope it was a kipper tie and not a skinny one.

She didn’t mind getting wet…bless her.

Anyone done a Phaal before and got any good stories? It's my mates stag do in Nottingham in a few weekends time and one of his challenges is to complete one (he's normally a Rogan Josh man at best) so excited to see how this plays out.

It’s very hard to consistently find decent curry. I cook my own BIR style (search Misty Ricardo on YouTube) and they are better than 90% of curry house (which often seems to be purreed veg, curry powered and red food colouring. You will often find the same curry house will do a good one one day and a bad the next. This is because it’s down to the chef, not the curry house. One chef left one restaurant and went to another one and I followed him across town! Extremely difficult to find a consistently good curry house for this reason. This sort of matches my experience. Over the years a few places I have loved have suddenly gone down hill and I assumed it was due to the chef leaving. Also it seems like there is a trend towards currys getting sweeter which is not to my taste at all.

Eastern Taste, St Marks Road. Cheap BYO. very nice food, friendly and always packed. They have been there for years so must be doing something right.

If you are in Bath try Ruposhi (Claverton Street, known to many as Widcombe High Street). Been going since the 80’s and now run by the grandchildren of the people that started it. Passed the cooking skills down the generations very well. My wife won’t eat the hottest rated food but it’s all very good. Like most ‘Indian’ places it’s really Bangladeshi based. Try a Thali (literally means ‘plate’) and you get enough for two to share. Their menu is very informative and I think I remember a neighbour saying they now have a website that includes all the allergy information. They modify recipes for our daughter who is lactose intolerant and are generally obliging with any special requests. Going to watch Bath City play Torquay next Saturday and will collect a meal there on the walk home knowing it will be fresh and ready at the time ordered.
