Luke Thomas at least tried a little bit. The rest of them strolled on the pitch thinking they had already won the game. So casual and no endeavour

Mansfield will put 5+ past us if we turn up like that on Saturday. To be fair Oldham should have.

We look vulnerable when playing a back 3. IMO the team are more comfortable playing a back 4 as we did in the previous 4 or 5 matches. If the players feel vulnerable at the back, that nervousness spreads through the rest of the team

If the players feel vulnerable at the back, that nervousness spreads through the rest of the team We started as a back 4 tonight and looked dreadful. Only went to a 3 late in the second half to bring on more attacking players. I agree we look better as a 4 just not tonight, 5 changes is too many and unless injury forced that to happen then we shouldn't have done it as we had no fluidity going forward and we only got in behind them 2 or 3 times. It was too slow and looked disjointed with simple passes going astray.

Well that was poor. It looked as if the team thought it would be as easy as some on here thought yesterday! They didn’t look prepared to be hassled against a team fighting for their league place. Backwards and sideways all night. Coutts under pressure all night, never had an easy out. I’ve always supported Harries but tonight he was poor, wasn’t switched on for their opening goal and let the pass go by him. Connolly was ok and Anderson looked good but in the end he was going backwards as well but he was responsible for 2 of our best moves and he looked good. No Loft, no Clark so why was Pitman sent out on loan? We had no option to change things and in those last 10 minutes the ball was going into the box begging for a Pitman-style poacher. At least with him we may have got a point. But tbh, our defence looked too vulnerable all evening and will need to improve if we are going to move up the table. But... Fair play to Oldham, they had worked us out. Pressed us, attacked the right hand side and we were under pressure all night. Didn’t give us any time and then waste as much time as possible to break up any momentum we got. They packed the defence once they had something to hold on to. They could have got 2/3 more goals if not for Anssi. Not one of JBs best nights, was tactically out-thought by Sheridan who set Oldham up perfectly to deal with us. We move on to Saturday. UTG! I don't think Pitman would have made any difference Wareham. Oldham have picked up. Obviously we have the strikers out but Taylor getting injured in the warm up and then Evans in the first half were 2 big losses, added to individuals being off their game. Hopefully this was more of a blip than anything else as disappointing as it was. No, you may be right GGMI. But I still think that the combination of all those things meant we are back at having no real goal scoring striker available. By all means send BP out on loan but make sure one of LC or RL are available. It just makes no sense. Of course losing Taylor and Evans was more important and I hope they’re back for Saturday. ps. Well GGMI, what you said about Oldham yesterday in reply to halifax wasn’t your finest moment was it? 😉 Tonight they were very good. Weren’t they? UTG!

I don’t understand why we used coutts as a deep laying playmaker , he was marked constantly yet we would go back from attacking midfield positions to pass to him when he was between the centre backs. We dominated possession but it feels like 50% of our passes were nothing balls to Coutts . It had a very Ben Garner feel about it tonight, not enough effort , not enough strength and way too many stupid pointless passes which slowed us down. Spot on, he has been playing this way all season but we have got away with it as we have for a change a very talented front 5. Players like Thomas, Collins and Nicholson need the ball early otherwise out of frustation they come deeper and deeper to try and get it. Coutts has to change or ship out.

The two mistakes our club made with a reasonable budget. 1) we failed to sign any of the top 20 div 4 goalscorers last year. Most of them went to clubs who are in the play off position in div 4 . We rely too heavily on Collins. 2) we failed to sign an experienced central half.
However : we have too many players in similar positions like midfield. A quality striker and centre half and a few less in midfield would of seen us in top 8 I.m.o.

Perhaps Pitman wanted the move, assuming he still lives in Hants then getting game time near home must be more attractive to him than travelling miles just to warm the bench. Yes Topper, you may be right but I still think that his going coinciding with the other two being unavailable has meant we haven’t got that option any longer. And once again we are without what I’d call an out and out striker. He would have been a good option in those last 10 minutes when the ball was getting sling into the box. You may be right, the occasional 10 minutes Marigot not warrant keeping him here. BRFC is the first priority surely? UTG!

Both turned out to be rubbish and we are now trying to play one of them as an attacking wingback and it shows. He is useless.

Pretty poor performance. Of the outfield players I thought Collins was decent and Nicholson and Connolly just about OK. The rest were poor.

Firstly anderton is a left back or at least that's what Carlisle said he is . Secondly the bloke who went to muff hardly played for us . So we're was the replacement ?. And we failed to sign any proven goalscorer whereas all the other top 10 clubs did in div 4 .

Barton and Co need to be held accountable for failing to strengthen our weakest element of the team in January! Not sure they can be held accountable for Taylor picking up a bug/Kilgour taking his time to recover from his injury? Appreciate your point but the defence has still been the weakest part of the team by far even with Taylor and Kilgore has been unavailable for quite some time.

Really gutted we don't have Tom Davies anymore, what an excellent defender he was when fit. Would make a hell of a difference to our back line. The defence is the weakest part of our team by far.

Sadly I feel we are running out of games to get into the play-offs. Three points was a must tonight with Mansfield, Exeter and Newport coming up if we don’t get two wins out of those three games its probably over.

In Collins, Thomas, Nicholson, Evans and Finley (although questionmark after todays performance) we have a team who create and score goals. Add in Lofty and this should be enough We need two experienced and consistent full backs, an Aaron Lescott, Lee Brown or Vaughn Jones, reliable not spectacular. Instaed we have a revolving door of players played at fullback must like Anderton are played out of postion. Hoole showed tonight and against Wallsall that he is not ready, tonight he looked like a schoolboy, the foul throw summed up a ponderous and poor performance. Connelly and in particular Taylor have been great signings but neither will be here next season. Can Kilgour regain some form and importantly composure. Harries tonight did little to suggest he should play again. We need to concentrate not on the attack but on the defence.
