Well done to FGR, best team in Division over the course of the season. They made some noise, enjoyed their day and celebrated in the manner that true fans do. The rest of nailsworth were probably watching Arsenal Man Utd. I'd much rather see local fans supporting their local team. Do we really resent a small team have their moment of glory? Well said!! 1990 - 4000 Bristolians invade the pitch at Blackpool - what a fabulous day that was 2022 - 200 FGR supporters celebrate promotion - disgraceful, throw the book at them

I do begrudge them their celebration , that should be at their ground not ours
Hope none of our supporters get made an example of but I fear they will , stupid thing to do with cameras everywhere pointed at you
Personally I gave them nothing ,turned away and walked out
Small village team celebrating with tofu and cabbage fajitas tonight
Go figure

I don’t get the vitriol towards them, I know plenty of FGR fans and they are generally good people. Good luck to them.

I really do not understand why any Rovers of Bristol fan should feel any animosity to FGR. There's is an incredible story and I wonder if the animosity is because they have out performed the many so called bigger clubs in there division and there is an element of jealousy involved.? As others have alluded to it is similar to the Yeovil story who I suspect many on here willed to get into the football league but any good feelings towards them quickly evaporated when they became serious competitors to us and indeed left us behind for a while! FGR have also layed waste to the oft championed theory on here that you need a large super stadium packed out every match in order to have any success. To begrudge there fans a moment of celebration is, IMHO very small minded and does nothing to enhance the reputation of us Gas Eds. The Stadium theory may well be true in order to ensure long term success but meanwhile well done them and here's hoping we can continue our rivalry in league 1 next season! Up the Rovers (both of us!)

Was quite funny seeing a load of knights run onto the pitch. Meme worthy if anything. Just when I thought I’d seen it all in football … the crusaders marching on to defend our ‘land’! Shouldn’t laugh really but one of the strangest sights I’ve seen since West Brom fans fighting in togas back at Twerton! Ha ha ha, Togas at Twerton, happy days.

The FGR massive, don't make me laugh, chose to invade the pitch climb onto the cross bar, dance around, get watered on by the sprinkler system, encircled by a few ageing Tote Enders in Richard I regalia, without a hand-bag being thrown, is being reported by Rovers and Bristol's finest as a pitch invasion, lets have a bit of reality. Yet a mob can bring down a statue near the City centre roll it along St Augustine's Parade and into the harbourside and the Constabulary stand back. Doh.

Repeating my post from the match day thread. In the 'away' terrace today. The huge majority of FGR supporters celebrated with the players,as they should. A few applauded our fans which was returned. A handful - at most from what I could see - started goading our support. All spiralled from that. Granted a lot of idiots overeacted but what a bunch of c**kwombles when you should be enjoying it with the players. Think the sprinklers were put on for fun if anything as they weren't on 'rotate' mode. Seen a few pitch invasions in my time but this was probably the only one where a line of stewards wasn't ready to cover a small area of away support

Blimey, let’s lighten up people. This was proper entertainment. Hardly Millwall was it?!
A couple of hundred young uns celebrating a village pub side getting promoted, getting surrounded by Rovers fans, some in fancy dress, then having the sprinklers turned on them! Brilliant!
I was with a mate at the end, a Bristolian vegan eco warrior and FGR fan, who has only watched 3 live matches in his whole life, and his views were that it was a great game, really exciting for 0-0, and he couldn’t take his eyes off the shenanigans at the end! He thought the whole thing was brilliant, and wants to watch Rovers more, on the back of it.
Let’s get things in perspective.

Frankly if you saw my 9 year old sons reaction at Gas fans 50 + in years, dressed in fancy dress, running and throwing punches at Forest green fans, you would not be posting this, I was embarrassed I hope they get banning orders.

Not sure what they thought they were trying to achieve when the majority of the FGR fans were just celebrating Getting rattled by a couple of hundred The saddest part was this caused a whole lot of drama after the game and put a bit of a dampener on the womens game and hardly gave a good impression to anyone turning up

The worst part is those guys dressed as Knights were on the hospitality boxes at the back of the East Stand. That’s probably the furthest from the pitch you can sit. Mammoth effort to get down to pitch level. Noticed them up there during the game and they were all heavily induced before kick off, no excuse however.

Up the Rovers (both of us!) I agree. But some people seem desperate for any reason to hate other clubs. And seemingly can hold onto that forever. I remember being really annoyed at Notts County, Wycombe etc but apart from a bad memory don’t really care, and I do not have the energy and time to hate them however many years later. Some ‘fans’ act like these clubs killed their family. I applauded FGR yesterday. They have got promoted, fair play to them. They were cynical and time wasting but they did a professional job, shut down our best players and made the game difficult. They probably created the best chances - Belshaw wasn’t man of the match without reason. They came on the pitch - I didn’t like it but I understood and I’m not sure why some of ours felt the need to go on the pitch. Especially as they looked like a bunch of kids trying to act all hard. We’ll get our chance before too long (I hope).

Total overreaction from people on here. It was such a light pitch invasion, I’d very much doubt if kids even noticed what was happening.

Congratulations to FGR, a tremendous achievement for them, we didn’t even score against them this season. The bit at the end, just made me laugh, it was like a comedy sketch. Let’s all move on. Two to go, Al to play for! UTG

No need for it, and will only damage the image of our club.

Not sure what we expected? Shocking policing/ stewarding. End of. It has been mildly referred to recently on another thread, and as A source has alluded to, the stewarding has been poor this season. As much as the intent was initially celebratory and good natured, some of previous pitch invasions have been too to celebrate goals, Oxford being an example. It appeared back on that night in East Terrace, children masquerading as stewards just watched, and there was no action until police were involved. A few have said at matches that they don't feel safe, yesterday was fun that turned sour, but if it was more sinister I truly have no faith everyone's safety can be assured by extremely youthful looking authoritarians...
