Blimey seeing this is a bit of a shock esp coming on the news of the FGR manager leaving. Bookies aren’t often too wrong but...Burnley will not be making any decision until the PL season is over. If they stay up then I’d be surprised. No PL club is going to take a risk on a manager facing the charge he’s facing. The jump from League 2 to PL is huge and I’d be surprised if he had the opportunity to go there. But if they go down the gap has closed by two leagues and could be seen as a normal step up. Whatever, when you think that Mike Jackson was a disaster as a manager for Tranmere but has done ok for Burnley as a caretaker you realise that JB would probably be ok. I think he’s based in the NW so why wouldn’t he go if he got the chance? He will be aware of DC turning down Leeds only to see our progress not kick on and DC sacked/mutually leave in ‘18, just over two years later. Wael take note, words will not be enough to show a commitment to improve, actions are needed. It might be a long wait to find out after the season is finished. UTG! If Burnley get relegated, wouldn't the gap just be 1 division, as we'll be a League one side?

Thankfully Leeds are woeful, they’ve made that final relegation place their own under Ted Lasso.

If they stay up then I don't think we need to worry.
If they go down however, then things could be different.
If they come calling there is no way he would turn them down and you couldn't blame it for it either. A move up the leagues to a club you've played for before and more importantly, being able to move back home.
I suspect the pending court case however, will play a big part in what Burnley decide.

So are we basically saying he will be gone as soon as ANY club higher in the pyramid comes calling??
Really would be a kick in the balls for the squad he’s built and you do wonder if things would implode here for those who have been playing this season.
Then again, if his only aim is to manage as high as possible as soon as possible then there’s not a great deal we can do!
What length of contract did he sign when he joined us??

Wasn't he fave for the Preston job at one point (much earlier on in his tenure) - that turned out to be complete nonsense.... hopefully this is too.
On the manager markets, bookies always place one carrot in the market (someone they believe it will never be). They then reduce the odds in order to make other punters believe something is going on - they then "follow" the money. Given the FGR manager it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that gave them the idea as Joey for the carrot.

Would be a big blow! Listening to JB you feel he is a man on a mission, to put Rovers on the Football map, knock our neighbours of there perch, , and take this club to the promised land. Wael put a lot of faith in him and they obviously have a great mutual respect for each other BUT is that enough for JB to turn down a job like Burnley's? I sincerely hope so.

I’ve been reliably informed that there has been no approach by Burnley and no truth in the rumour that means JB should be favourite.

We’re both right. 👍 So then just a normal step up. UTG!

Once the court case is over and assuming not found guilty should he get an extension to his current contract during the summer?

Would be a real shame if he were to leave especially given our momentum now.
Thought things were going too well.
Fingers crossed we keep him at least for another season.

This may be the least popular post ever on here. Unlike the rest of you I have totally mixed feeling about Barton moving on. Certainly the last 6 months have be fantastic and most of it is down to him. He put together a good team and an even better team spirit and Saturday was probably my best day watching the Gas. However, right from the start I was opposed to his appointment because of his off the pitch behaviour. In particular, although he has not been found guility of wife-beating (let's call it what it is), the whole incident feels wrong to me.
I'm ready to take the flack. As I have been doing, I will continue to support my team whether he stays or goes.
Omwards and upwards.

As always it is opinions. I supported the team, cheered with the best, but I have, and am entitled to, different views from you and many others. Onwards and upwards.

Amusing the number of people now clinging to the forthcoming trial as a reason for other clubs not wanting him.. presumably the same people that keep shouting "innocent until proven guilty" every time anyone on here has even made a vague reference to it Pretty sure he had a trial hanging over him when we recruited him initially too BTW
