Mind you he aid the same last season about players playing for their future! At the Bath game can only assume Kilgour is the one under threat and maybe Loft if he has changed his mind on him. At the other game can only imagine Westbrooke and the youngsters. I doubt JB is referring to the youngsters when he mentions the 3 or 4 who could be leaving, as they are hardly playing for their Rovers careers just yet. Clearly somebody who played at Bath is now in danger of joining the list!

Its always interesting to hear what merit posters give these fixtures, for me they are a good opportunity for fans to get up close and personal to players and coaches, to run the rule over new boys and youngsters and generally get a better understandings of the workings of a professional football club away from intensity of league games. I never take much heed of results and don't believe they have any bearing on what will happen come kick off, i am sure Man Utd fans don't believe for one second they will win the league because they beat Liverpool 4-0 in pre season and likewise Liverpool will not be panicking !

I don't disagree, but when we put out a team that is close to what would currently be our strongest 11, you wouldn't want to get outplayed and beat by a Bath side who only just avoided relegation from National Leage South last season.
Prior to last nights game you'd have expected all of the starting 11 at Bath to be in our first team squad on July 30th and maybe as many as 8 in the starting 11. Particularly when you factor in Coutts suspension.
No need to panic, but disappointing nonetheless.
Hopefully we can make the 7 additions Barton is hoping for.

Its natural to assume the players who had the least appearances in league two are playing for their spot at Rovers.
So look at last seasons squad and of those still here what 4 played least.

I've got a feeling Loft might go, and we take a risk gamble on james Norwood based on his failed medical, wasnt at Bath so pure guesswork. He s one of our own and hate myself but AK must be on that list.

If Norwood is an injury risk then I assume that'll have to be reflected in any contract we offer? Kilgour has now started in defence in two games where we've conceded 6 goals, assuming we sign another CH then I can't see him get much game time anyway at Rovers. A loan move elsewhere probably suits both parties even if he's a loyal Gashead.

Looked leggy to say the least, every single one of them. No shocks Joey kept the starting XI out there for turning in such a poor performance. A couple playing themselves out of the managers plans, than playing themselves into it! Roll on FGR (H) After a week away in the sun, a tough game v Porto where they were probably ball chasing a lot of the time I’m not surprised they were leggy. As long as they’re match for ready for the season that’s the main thing. Our fitness was good last season no reason why it should be different this season.

Who remembers the visit we had from WBA back at Twerton? If I remember right, it was the last game of the season?

West Brom were relegated to the 3rd Division for the 1st time in their history.

Some people in the houses in Freeview Road had allowed West Brom fans into their back gardens (for a fee), where they could view part of the pitch. One resident had her wooden fences broken down when things started to go against West Brom - I've got a feeling that other West Brom fans had a bit of whip round to pay for the damage.

I'm pretty sure West Brom came back up the season we went down in 92/93. Think we played them in the 1st Round of whatever the League Cup was called back then, and they thrashed us 4-1

I might be thinking of a different game, but I’m sure I remember being on the pitch at the end. WBA were relying on another result and Keith Valle was reading out the final scores (didn’t have smart phones back then). He read out the result WBA were waiting for but got it wrong (probably deliberately) so briefly they thought they were staying up until he quickly corrected himself.

I remember being on the pitch at the start, not out of choice tho… Ref was just about to start the game, when all the carnage started. The worse thing was it was all happening in the family enclosure, they never got as far as the the popular side where all the crack pots where.

It's on YouTube, funny to see Darren on there, not funny seeing kids crying,
