We weren’t at it today, nowhere near what we’re capable of but that referee performance today and the levels of inconsistency was bordering on criminal. Regardless of their (debatable) pen award and then one not given to Collins, I’m certain their lad jumped in on Whelan, broke his own ankle & then GW gets booked for it🤦🏻 I’m normally calm and collected at football 100% but that ran me close today. Collins pen not even close, stonewall beyond stonewall. Dude, I couldn’t see the Whelan incident but I walked out feeling like you. Wasn’t made any better from sitting in their North Stand, front row and listening to their lot all afternoon and keeping fairly quiet. Until the equaliser!! And then the pen. I had such a good view of it. We were cheated!! 😭 UTG!

In the Pompey Bar after the game. Their fans were all saying our penalty claim was a stone-waller. Watch the replay of the penalty incident. You can clearly see the Rovers player's left leg deliberately kick into Rafferty's, Robert Pires style. That's why the ref didn't give it. As regards the alleged push there's nothing in it. Certainly not enough to make him fall over. You joined this group 20 minutes ago & it’s your first post. Same old Pompey always cheating.

To me it looks like Anderson kicked through their lad for their pen. And Collins initiated the contact as he tends to do. So as unpopular as this may sound, I think the ref may have got both of them right.

Also, watch your defender - what sort of challenge is that?

If that was up the other end, the ref would’ve already had the ball on the penalty spot.

Thought we might have played out a 1-1 draw but wasnt to be.
First half. Not too clever. Whelans foot clearly touches the ball first but as they had both charged in the pompey players been tangled up in the slide and got hurt.
First goal. Evans loses his man who heads home. Second goal...have not seen it clear enough for definitive conclusion. Give pompey benefit of the doubt on this one. Third goal. Hoole doesnt mark the man on the far post who gets a free head into the net.
We currently seem to be poor at marking higher balls into the box. Marquis lost his man in the previous game for Barnsley to score from a ball into the box.
Collins is our goal threat and needs to keep upfront. Although he did win a few freekicks whilst back defending which relieved pressure.
Anderson has been poor since everyone raved on about how good he is ! We cursed him somehow !
Evans was poor in both first halfs this week ,todays second half saw an improvement.
Time will tell with Gibson ,as it stands we still need a standout central defender who takes control.
Attacking flair and pace is still lacking as we know.
The sooner the squad gets boosted the better. I just hope that three of the six are really good players that arrive.

Interesting listening to Danny Cowley…
He thought his players were fitter- kept going to the end and that was one of the decisive factors in the game.
Not heard that said very often that the opposition were fitter than our boys. That said we have a number ‘ in the process’ of getting match fit so hopefully better times ahead.

Not sure that's really the case, let's see which team looks fitter in the return leg, assuming we sign some quality players.

Once again Kilgour gets the blame. It was Anderson, watch the highlights.

Certainly not enough to make him fall over. Clear penalty. Neither defender was anywhere near the ball nor made any attempt to play it. Collins is about to shoot and is clearly shoved, in the process there's a tangle of legs. If you take the tangle of legs out of the equation (which was caused by the shove and the defender impeding Collins) it's still a penalty

Managers necessarily have to talk out of their posterior orifice to justify themselves. What I will say is that he must have told his team to press hard because if they didn't we could hurt them. They were physically stronger than us and were fast. I wonder if they could keep that up all season.

BTW Baffinsblue - why are the crowd so quiet? Takes a lot to rouse them.

Wrong on both counts Sonny!
