I think we'd beat the turds with the squad we have. Let's hope we draw them in the FA cup. Haha. Love your optimism. We still have lots to do to catch them, on and off the pitch.

Well that's not true is it? Another myth that City fans like to trot out.
Brentford and Luton have chucked that theory straight in the bin.
I would say we've got quite a few players that would get in your side. If we sign JCH then I don't think there is much between the 2 sides at all.

Think 9000 odd is a decent crowd for such a fixture, as for the 'gulf' you are probably right as far as the top 6 or 7 go in the championship ,usually made up of recently relegated teams from premier, as for the rest ,including City, they are very mediocre , think this was summed up by the recent Southampton v Plymouth game ,2 leagues apart last season and the gulf was wide , although it took a last second goal to divide them, Plymouth will hold their own in the championship though. Think the squad JB is building and the style he is trying to implement will prosper in the championship, BUT not sure it will get us promoted out of league 1!,probably need a bit more steel.

How ridiculous How is it?
Aaron Collins I would suggest is every bit as good if not better than Harry Cornick and Anis Mehmeti, as is Harvey Vale.
Ryan Woods would get in their midfield, as would Lamare Bogarde.
Jack Hunt has already played 115 games for them in just 3 seasons, pretty much an ever present, and their Right Back now isn't any better.
JCH is a better goalscorer than Nahki Wells who pretty much plays every game for them.
Luton have outperformed Bristol City with players still from their Conference, League 2 and League 1 days.
So while they might have far better facilities than us, they're not miles ahead of us on the pitch at all.

Wow, what a stat that is!! points deduction incoming!! i have said before Mr Lansdowne is not going to throw anymore millions than he has to into the football club, they do well each transfer window by selling for good money, but i do not believe he is going to embark on the 'money no object path' chasing the end of the rainbow which fans want and believe is the Premiership, be thankful for what and who you got you ungrateful Teds!!

Completely disagree here. City would beat us 9 out of 10 times and probably at a canter. We are miles off of them regardless of what players we have. It's not just about players.(something which many forumners struggle with fsr) It is fascinating what goes on in people's minds and I like a bit of optimism, but we aren't even tearing this division up so🤷♂️

They beat us by the odd goal with 2 Worldies last time we played them competitively too. Why do you think they'd beat us at a canter? We're not miles off them on the playing side at all. If we sign JCH then this squad should be aiming for automatic promotion, Play Offs bare minimum. Brentford didn't tear this division up, got promoted then finished in the Championship top 10, 6 out of 7 seasons, reaching the Play Offs in 3 of them. It's nothing to with optimism, just based on the 2 current squads, adding JCH to it. Why do people think that there's this massive chasm between League 1 and The Championship?

I wouldn't waste your time arguing about it,clearly they are and have nearly always been bigger and better on and off the pitch, thankfully I'm old enough to have enjoyed the late 80s and early 90s when we regularly beat them home and away,I'd obviously love those days to return but it will take a massive effort to even get level these days,I just enjoy seeing them throwing millions away and going nowhere.

Until we have similar facilities & are both playing in the same league, it’s pretty futile trying to make comparisons. Looking back at average attendances, the last time City were in league 1 2014/15 , their average was 12056, which if we didn’t have our current restrictions wouldn’t be too much difference.

It's fine to have different opinions on the matter. 2007? Crikey, but look, there are often cup upsets in one-off scenarios. They are an established champ side paying 5x our wages against relegated prem sides each week. We are struggling to impose ourselves against sides like Cambridge and Fleetwood! We are building a nice squad for our campaign this season but imo, suggesting we could get near an established championship side and comparing squads is just hopefulness. It's been 20 odd years that we've been competing at a level below so I'm not sure where this optimism comes from. Take Peterborough and JCH. Pboro last played against the teds in 21/22 with a better side than us(played in a higher division with more expensive players, bigger crowds, better facilities etc etc) they drew and lost against city. I'm hopeful of a strong season this year regardless of JCH, but accept that comparing stats or capabilities with a mid table champ side is pointless and tbh a bit embarrassing. Each to their own though 👍🏼
