All this possession-type football is all well and good, but more often than not, Rovers' lose to teams playing directly. Wycombe won promotion to the Championship with this style of football! Listen to JB's post match presser, how many seasons did they remain there? Although I sense our problem is that we can't (or won't?) go long when we desperately need a goal, with Loft and Coburn up front late on yesterday not sure why we didn't get the ball forward faster at the end of the game.

Did anyone else think there was way more than 1200 in the away end yesterday? The stand holds 1800 and looked pretty full apart from one small block!

Every ball forward was diagonal to Coburnโs loaf which resulted in goal kick after goal kick. Barely anything direct where the big lads could trap it on the edge. Plus Hoole is allergic to crossing.

It's not so much the directness of teams we struggle with, it's the strength on winning the ball, or at least competing for it. There are times when a little shove or push or pull of the shirt will stop the opposition in its tracks. Wycombe are very good at this, its a lesson our young players need to learn quickly. It has happened a few times this season, the opposition just seem to be physically stronger than us. The build up to both goals yesterday was prime example, we lost all the 50/50s leading up, an elbow or a small foul would stop them in thier tracks, we need to be a bit more streetwise at times.

Or tracking and closing down your man even after having a glance over the shoulder to see heโs there. Simple as that.

Missing Rossiter and Finley is a blow regarding toughness in midfield. I think we need another tough central midfielder and probably another midfielder with some creativity in the window to back up Evans although we have got Mc Cormick coming slightly back in to form. Defensively weโve got plenty and loads of attackers too. Need to either drop Sinclair or play him in his natural position of striker or winger and stop trying to fit him in positions he canโt play.
