Kinda shows it all.... sorry for that but it's clearly ONSIDE: 5.13m lino level with play. Amazingly good decision.

Very much needed win. The change by JB in the second half made a difference. Need more good recruitment if we want to challenge for the play offs. UTG. Please stop with the play off berths and promotion. We are bang average at this level but it’s a good platform to work from. 2 awful and giveaway losses and a win is hardly play off form. Sorry as not personal but I think it’s nonsense, especially in how we defend Yet 1 loss in 12 pre Wycombe is title winning form😎

Weirdly flat all afternoon at the mem. Very forgettable performance but still score twice so take the points and move on.
Got to get through this performance rough patch. Picking up as many points as possible in January by hook or by crook. At some point it'll click again, confidence will flow once more, and we can look up the table.
Great to see Anderson back for some extended minutes. Think we've missed him out wide.

Enjoyed watching that. Highlights show that we were lucky today. We won’t be that blessed against more ruthless opponents 20 shots conceded at home to a lower placed team suggests plenty of work still to do Mr Barton and the defence. UTG

Our second half performance was poor until some fresh legs and energy were introduced. Cheltenham brought THREE substitutes on at half time. They brought on a group of forward thinking players and caught us cold. This third match in a short period of time meant some leg weary BRFC players. Sometimes the explanation for a change in performance during a match stares you in the face but is not immediately picked up. Luckily for us the momentum change at half time did not result in a defeat. UTG. How did they catch us cold when Connolly, for some odd reason, just passed the ball straight to the goal scorer, it wasn't like they were putting him under any pressure. Having pulled a goal back they clearly got Cheltenham players tails up whilst we reverted to panic mould.

If we keep Collins and add 2 or 3 quality we could well mount a play off push, January will be an interesting month.

KP, I know exactly where you are coming from and I said the same thing a year ago!
I thought we had no chance of promotion then because our defence was so poor - then we brought in Connolly and the rest is history.
Not expecting the playoffs this season but certainly haven’t written them off - not yet at any rate!

We're 4 point off the play offs, been off the pace in the last 3 due to a few injuries and tiredness. Good recruitment (in a few areas), in keeping with the last few windows and I think we've got a really good shout. Enjoy it mate

Think bang average is harsh, JB is absolutely spot on.... Forward line good enough for promotion, defence poor enough for relegation. Personally I think its harder to be a good attacking team than it is to defend, so we've done the hard bit! Oddly I think we struggle against the likes of Cheltenham, Wycombe, Exeter... Because we don't know how to defend a simple ball over the top, we don't pick up second balls either. Lack of pace in midfield and defence. We struggle to defend set pieces, long throws, long balls but are more comfortable against teams that play on the deck. Get that defence sorted and we will upset a few of the bigger sides for sure. He was asked a direct question when he was interviewed after the match "Will you still be wearing the Rovers badge at the end of January", he replied "I'm here for the next two and half years" It doesn't really matter what AC or the club say as if a Championship club are determined to sign him this month then he'll go, hopefully, they won't be. 🤞 Him going or not will be totally down to Wael & the player himself. Personally I think Azza is quite happy to see out at least this season out with us .

He might have been a million miles away from a Welsh call up, or he might have been close, but either way it would have still been something he thought about. I think the lure of international football would be too much like it was for Tom Lockyer. If you are Welsh and play in either of the top 2 divisions then theres a bloody good chance you make the squad.

Not the greatest game but for me a brilliant day out. As a surprise 70th birthday present (my birthday later in the week) the family arranged a box for today's game. So me, Mrs Cheam, two daughters, two son-in-laws and four grandchildren set off for the match. For the grandchildren (aged 5 to 7) it was the first football match that they had been to. As they all live close to me in South West London it also meant that I had someone to drive me the 240 mile round trip (especially good after a very late New Years Eve).
Got to the Mem early, all the family in their Rovers gear. A quick visit to the Club shop where the kids snapped up loads of exciting things (shame not more stock or a better range as would of spent a lot more) and off to the box.
Grandkids all excited. They loved being in in the box and were very enthusiastic throughout the day. We were in Box 2 which is close to the Blackthorn End. However, half-way through the second half, 5 year Tommy burst into tears. His mother asked him what was wrong. He told her that Grandad had told him that Bristol Rovers were the greatest football team in the whole world and therefore in the second half he had been expecting to see lots of goals at the Blackthorn End that Rovers were attacking. I, perhaps, shouldn't of been surprised by the implication that I may of been a bit over the top in my last 5 years of indoctrination as before the match he had asked if this was a World Cup game.
Still was a great day out with a win. The last time I sat in the West Stand was over 20 years ago when I drove down to watch the original Gas Girls play Aston Villa in an FA Cup match. I have a season ticket high up in the East Stand and you get a different perspective of the game lower down on the West side.

You can see at 5.13 that Coburn is onside but Collins plays the ball half a second later than that by which point he was offside. The goal that was disallowed though looked onside. Linesman on West side had an absolute mare.

Coburn was 100% offside.
Funny how football turns round and evens it self out.

I found it an enjoyable encounter, from fellow Gasheads comment 'the refs lost control' by not whistling for the minutes applause, for the late, great and one and only Pele (God rest his soul),to Joe's post game "brain fart" assessment of Rovers defending.
The kick off and taking the knee confusion by the left flank positioned Robin's player was an amusing start.
Rovers could of scored 4 in the first half,we played some good football, although N'ham had a couple of chances too.Eg,the near post header in the first minute.
It was all going swimmingly until until Beefy forgot which team he played for and gave the ball to the ever alert and dangerous Alfie May (reminds me of Jamie Cureton abit). 2 1.
Confidence seemed to visibly drain from Rovers, but fair play,we did enough to hang on for the 3 points.A determined rearguard action.
James had a decent game, this was important after the Grecians defeat.
This performance, although it produced a victory, would'nt of changed Joe's mind on his pregame concerns.
Our forwards are great.I enjoyed the link up play, the 1 2s and goal efforts.Loftys determined tackle was excellent!
Like others,i think we miss Jordan Rossitter and our midfield is a stronger place with him in it.
Defensively, well we only conceded one,but we're not so convincing.
I think we can still challenge and the Glos Robins will not get relegated.
Over 9000 Gasheads is nice to see and I too enjoyed the Punk music.
Pump It Up!
