I didn’t know until yesterday that you can’t take a beer bought in the fanzone into the ground - even though you can buy a beer as soon as you get through the turnstiles I guess they think you may have filled a (plastic) glass from your tinny purchased at Lidl's.

If you could buy a beer in the Fanzone and take it into the ground, what is to stop you drinking it while the game is happening? I think that is probably the logic happening. You can drink whilst the game is on but you are stopped from doing so in the stand or terrace - I’ve seen Stewards doing that many times. My point is that you are allowed to stand and drink on the tarmac area behind the west stand for example. but only if you’re drinking something bought in the ground - the exact same drink bought from the fanzone can only be drunk in the fanzone. I just found that bizarre tbh. Probably something to do with the alcohol license(s)? Potentially a different license for the fan zone vs the ground meaning you can only consume it in that specific area. I can see why the club would want those two licenses to be separate because if one is lost (or has limitations imposed) the other will potentially still be ok.

A legal requirement of stadiums is that you can't drink alcohol in view of the match.

As they down pints before 😂.

South stand view will be good but the SW view is hampered by alot of pillars Why didn't the club think of that and use the end column for s/t's and the SW West Stand for pay on the day or even a reduced price family stand? As I sense the South Stand could well be popular with Rovers fans looking for a stand seat.

As they down pints before 😂. Exactly. It's a stupid rule which is out of date and not aligned with other countries. Pretty much every club in England has a group of idiots who think they're hard.it cocaine that fuels it and they'll try and cause trouble whether they can have 2 beers during the match or not. With cctv, stewards and the policing at each game, just root out the instigators and ban them. This way, normal humans can enjoy the entertainment with a beverage if they want to.

I think the alcohol rules go as far down as the National league. Below that, Northern/Southern and Isthmian rules may be different and possibly down to each club. You can drink pitch side at Exmouth Town and if youre lucky in a glass not plastic. Though I seem to remember not being able to at Bristol Manor farm. Bath city is always the mad dash to to clubhouse just before half time

When will the new stand be fully opened or is it a case of how long is s piece of string ? Be good if it's up and running by Oxford at the end of January, nobody else will bring enough to fill it until derby in march.

That’s my thinking! As nice as the extra cash from a big away following us, better we just give them one block and we fill the rest!

With the re-arrangements with midweek games in the winter months the club could do worse than offer quid a kid, or £2 a student. With around 1,000- 2,000 spare spaces we would now have scope. Fill the ground, increase bar, pasty hut, programme, 50/50 and possibly shop sales, plus getting kids hooked ready for when ST sales are announced in March. If we get a cup replay v Norwich with a prem team at home for the winners we should be looking to get another 9,000+ gate.
