Unusual or not it still seems a lot of money to hand just to turn a tent into something better for fans to use, it's not like we were building houses or offices to sell at a decent profit. Luton did £10m of ground developments this summer, I wonder how much Bucks CC charged them? Nothing... Luton is in Bedfordshire.

Some of the payment is planning gain , whereby as part of the permission granted the developer has to pay money over to local organisasions and schemes that benefit the community. On this application some of it appears to be for enviromental improvements , this is a standard thing for any decent sized development and Wrexham may also have to do the same thing as part of the development. Entirely different set of local authority rules in Wales so not directly comparable. But I'm very surprised to hear that BCC paid for the 82ers solar panels. I didn't know that but assume there were some valid reasons rather than just a kindly gift? Although you never know with local councillors.

If I recall correctly, BCC also gifted Bristol Sport a significant chunk of surrounding land to enable the redevelopment of Ashton Gate. Extremely unlikely they'd ever do the same for us, though understandable with land far more valuable in BS7 than BS3.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here or on other threads but a couple of interesting documents have appeared on the planning application for the new stand since I last looked a couple of months ago. Firstly CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) - the council's 'charge' for 'allowing' us to build the stand was £147k, paid in full last week (and the only reason I mention it was paid in full is there was the option to split it into four instalments over 18 months, so clearly we don't have any immediate cashflow issues...) Then there's the unilateral undertakings, including the club paying £12k for improvements to bus stops on Filton Avenue, £4k for new signs between the overall site and Ashley Down station, £25k for any potential new waiting/parking schemes (which may or may not arise from the £6k travel monitoring scheme) and £5k for new trees to be planted within one mile of the site. There's also an interesting map included....it doesn't seem to relate directly to anything mentioned earlier in the document, but potentially a new entrance/exit to the ground once Ashley Down station opens? View AttachmentIt looks to me the map relates to the LEMP area i.e. the bit of scrub land the club now has to look after indefinitely, it also states that it's the "LEMP Plan" on page 9, with the plan itself on page 10. The document also states the the green shaded area is not included, that looks to me to be the area where properties 53 & 53a are situated. It's clearly not going to be an access point to the ground and BCC are never likely to give us PP to build anything whilst the Green's still have any power. Surprised nobody has picked up on the sums BCC have made us hand over to them before they'd grant PP it's the best part of £200K (plus the cost of installing the solar panels) just to build a stand allowing us a similar ground capacity we've always had in the past at the Mem. Meanwhile Wreham's council are handing their local club £m's to build a stand, BCC are effectively fining Rovers for building a stand!! The reason I was curious when I saw that map was because, having looked closely through all the previous planning documents as they were published, I don't recall it ever including or being linked to those two houses (see attached as one of the previous examples). Yes, having re-read the whole thing I can see that the LEMP land is that whole area (which I assume the club bought as a package at some point, houses and the 'dead space' in the SW corner of the site), and that the agreement is that only the scrub-land is covered by the agreement, but... ...no reason we couldn't explore a planning application to use the 'dead space' as an outdoor concourse-style area for South/South West Stand and then demolish the houses to create a new access point - yes, it would probably annoy some Downend Road residents, but it makes sense for a lot of good reasons, not least as it would mean easier access to the planned new railway station *and* would make life a bit easier for residents on the sides and to the north of the stadium as people won't have to walk all the way around to the north to enter the site...

If you could sort out the cut through you could make it an away supporters entrance and make that bit the away end instead. Then the terracing on the East side could be used fully and you wouldn’t have to worry about the impact of extending the East Stand at the South end on away attendances.

Entirely different set of local authority rules in Wales so not directly comparable. But I'm very surprised to hear that BCC paid for the 82ers solar panels. Agree that Planning is a devolved matter so the rules are different in Wales, however S106 agreements apply both sides of the border, the difference being a National government grant.
The point being that grants may be available for a particular activity, location and time. They are usually competitive and generally require a significant amount of coordination and effort to win.

Pleased to see the club have come up with reasonable pricing for the Fleetwood match next week in the South stand.
Adults £15 65+/ u18 £10 u7 £5
Enjoyed it for the Exeter match, hopefully the weather & result is better this time.

We might all be surprised to hear that last season was Rovers best season since 1975 crowd wise. Averages can be tilted by a few big crowd games to make things seem better. As can gauging the seasons highest attendance.
For me its the lowest league crowd of the season thats the measure of how well the club is supported. Last seasons lowest gate of 8078 was the highest since 1975 then back to 1962 for the next better season.
Our greatest season was 1954 with 19,638 as the lowest gate.
Last season was our 15th best season ever.
That for me is something we should be very positive about considering we finished 17th in league one in a very limited stadium.

That really is a great statement by the fans that the support is there. Here’s hoping the upward trend can continue with the new south stand providing more comfort and room for our loyal support. A decent season next season will see us average 10,000 I’d say. Whatever they say across the river, and I know we don’t care, but they will have to accept that the “blue few” is growing steadily. UTG

What is the current total capacity?
Surely with a few of the bigger clubs visiting soon, Reading and Derby etc we should be looking at 12k sell outs.
I'm sure there are pockets of space that could be tidied up all around the ground and whatever happened to the illusive "extra step" that was going to be added to the walkway in front of the Thatchers?
I know SAG have a big say but even at recent "big crowds" there has been ample space where I have stood. I would have thought an extra 1000 could fit in the the 3 terraced areas without a squeeze.
