I have only seen Stansfield play against Rovers and did watch some of him against Plymouth. I thought he only looked an average player in these games but admittedly that's a small look at his performance this season. He may turn out to be a great player but at this moment I wouldn't swap him for any of the strikers we have. If you both have watched him a lot more than me then you are in a better place to judge. Talking of Plymouth I see they’ve sold almost 40,000 tickets for the Papajohns Trophy final . Impressive. No fans boycott then?

It's still baffling why we gave up v Plymouth, if we'd put out a first team we'd have probably beaten them and could well now be looking forward to a Wembley final rather than our season just fizzling out.

Still can’t believe we chucked it with home advantage in a 1/4 final🤦🏻Plenty were happy as we’d ‘rested’ a lot of first picks, then went on to not win a league match in 8. Brilliant😂😫

I think Papa John's are not looking to renew sponsorship.
If the FL don't get any more sponsors does it mean that any monies for the competition (directly or indirectly) comes from the PL?
In that case it maybe even more weighted in their favour.

Some boycotted completely others until the u21s were knocked out I haven't been to an EFL Trophy game since they introduced Premier League 'B' teams. Not likely to in the future either..... unless we get to Wembley and then I would likely turn into a dirty scab and everyone can call me a massive hypocrite and I wouldn't even care

Yes it is strange. By all means do that in the early rounds but when Wembley is on the horizon….🤔 Plymouth must think their name is on the cup because iirc in the round before we played them they were either 2-0 or 3-0 down to AFC Wimbledon and came back and won. At ht of that match I think we knew we’d be playing the winners and AFCW at that point could have got us thinking if Wembley. I think Steven S at Plymouth looks to have done a decent job, when they started to stutter he managed to turn it around before it threatened to spoil their season. And not sure we gave up, more a case of JB perhaps trying to show he was a genius up against Schumacher and thinking he had a better squad than perhaps he did. It didn’t work. UTG!

Opposition managers do not view JB as a tactical genius.

Changing the subject, and just out of curiosity, why don't we have a game this weekend?

In every other round he put out a surprisingly strong starting team, didn't we even out perform Plymouth at Home Park in the group stages?

At the time of the Plymouth trophy game we were on a decent run & I think JB thought we still had a reasonable chance of having a shot at making the playoffs so put out a weakened team, which backfired unfortunately.

So I think Accrington also not playing this weekend and morecombe are away to Barnsley. So a good chance after 3 weeks we remain 10pts clear of relegation. Would have taken that after Pompey.
