It seems the white knight new owner has turned out to be a fraud after all. It wasn’t long ago the fanbase were turning up 5/6k strong in celebration at the takeover. Sad times indeed. Not sure dude. They are sad times but there seem to be several stories I’ve seen talking about him being let down. Whatever, the truth and I suppose it may come out, it’s sad for the fans. Did he complete the takeover without clear agreements about the freehold or a long-term lease over Glanford Park? Swann, the previous owner, seems to have had some control over the ground still and his ownership was certainly surrounded by uncertainty. But as you say sad times indeed, esp if they’re stuck in NLN. They did make a strong start but that may evaporate with no manager and cost-cutting. UTG!

He’s already served time for fraud Wareham and was supposedly purchasing Glanford Park by the end of August.Surprise surprise he never had the wherewithal and many many home truths about him have emerged since then.He purchased the club for £3 (yes £3 not £3m) and raked in cash by selling lifelong season tickets for £1899 a pop (Scunny’s founding year). Now being called David Wham lol (w,h,a and m being the 4 initial surnames he has called himself).Incredibly sad for the Scunthorpe followers but how the hell someone with his background passed the F.A. fit and proper owner thing is astonishing.

Thanks for that, I didn’t know. As I was reading it I thought how did he pass….. then saw your last sentence. Do they have the owner test in non-league or is it an EFL/PL rule? Basically a proper mess then. UTG!

Pay day today for Scunthorpe - Players and staff received zilch.Go fund me page started, looks like the end is near now for the poor sods. Yes. Very sad. The downside of football which perhaps could be avoided if the authorities had a proper owners test for clubs. The trouble would be how far down the pyramid would such a test be applied. Poor old Scunthorpe have dropped so low now that I’m not sure if that test now applies. And in the end I can’t imagine there would be a queue of people clamouring to own clubs at Level 6 or below. So it’s definitely a case of beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to ownership when the situation is dire. Anyway, there for the grace of god…… No team is safe from the consequences that Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Darlington etc faced if they are badly run. It’s why it’s important to challenge owners, seek information and always look to improve. And despite the ground question, which is a continuous concern we have been fortunate to have such a good owner as Wael. I hope the new owners are equally as honourable. (Yes,I know, an old fashioned word but one I think fits Wael.) UTG!

Like Bury, Wimbledon and others, an AFC side could be the best thing.
I'm sure if Rovers ever ceased to be, a Rovers AFC would rise from the ashes.
The local team means too much to too many people.
Good luck to Scunny fans.
When the Prem managers at clubs like City and Utd moan about the numbers of games and the strain on players, they are quick to get paid the millions for a flight to Dubai or wherever for a preseason tournament.
A preseason friendly at Southend, or Scunthorpe could really help those clubs finances - even if it was a u21s team playing and the stars just signing autographs pitchside.

I agree wholeheartedly, the appalling thing is the amount of money owing the lower league clubs are actually going bankrupt for compared to some of the signings being made by the premier league clubs. It's a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer
