I cant see anyone offering more than 500k now for Collins based on his recent form and that'll more likely come from a top league one club rather than championship. So assuming the club value him higher than that, I think he will still be with us. Assuming Rossiter can get fit and be ready for a full pre season he will be like a new signing. Our best central midfielder this season. Of the loan players only Bogarde and Gibson would be worth keeping. Highly unlikely to get Bogarde back but we can try. Him and Rossiter in the middle would be very decent. If Everton go down I think our chances of getting Gibson back become highly unlikely. I assume Everton will need to make massive cut backs so won't be offering players contracts they can move on? True but if they get relegated and think Gibson has some potential, it'll be cheap for them to keep him. They will have a lot of higher earners who will want out anyway so that's where most of the cut backs will be made.

Why on earth would any player leave Wrexham to gone Rovers when they probably pay better wages and are virtually guaranteed to be pushing for promotion in front of sell out crowds. You sense there's more chance we'll be losing our players to Wrexham! I really dont get all this hyperbole regarding Wrexham, it's getting blown way out of proportion imo. How wealthy are Ryan Reynolds and the other guy? Yeah they're mega wealthy compared to us mere mortals but compared to a lot of other Football League owners they are small fry. Why are people going overboard like Wrexham are going to walk through the leagues and be European Champions in 5 years? Where does that come from? Yeah they're well known celebrities and they've got a bit of glamour factor but they don't have anywhere near the net worth of a lot of Football League owners. Look at Salford, they're bankrolled by Peter Lim, David Beckham, Gary Nevile, Butt, Scholes etc add up all their investment probably a net worth of circa £3B as an estimation, that blows Wrexham out the water, and they struggle to get out of League 2. Maybe I'm missing something? do they not get a lot of income from sponsorship like tik tok and their welcome to Wrexham tv shows?

of course we can get Gibson.
If Everton go down they wont be looking at players like him, they'll want players that will get them straight back in the Prem. Moshsi has just blew £400m so £10m on a new CB or a high profile loan is nothing to them.
Maybe Gibson can get a contract at a lower Championship side, but with his injuries i'd say hes looking at the top end of L1 at best. So most L1 sides dont give out much more than 2 years, he has to go there and play and play well. If he doesnt its the lower end of L2 where sides gamble a bit more.

Bogarde is almost a certainty for next season too, nowhere near the Villa team and hes only 18 so very unlikely many will take him above L1.

Ethan Gilbraith has had an excellent season for Salford on loan from Man U. Would like to see if we could get him on loan next year. Justin Tchmeadeau RB at Colchester has had a break out season and been one of the reasons they have stayed up. Ed Turns at Leyton Orient on loan from Brighton had had an excellent half season. Could be one to look at. Been quite impressed with midfielder Tom O’Connor at Wrexham too. Remember him at Burton as a goal scoring CM. All good players and I like the Sam Nombe shout too from early if he was affordable and we were to spend money on a striker. Watched him score 4 in one game in pre-season where he looked particularly sharp and knew he'd go on to have have a good season then. Galbraith is out-of-contract this summer so there is a possibility Utd could release him.
I'd like us to be a bit more creative and incisive from deeper positions and become more of a goal threat too, so with that in mind I wouldn't mind us going for Scott Banks (Crystal Palace), Ruben Rodrigues (Notts County) and Jonny Williams (Swindon).
Scott Banks is out-of-contract at Crystal Palace and would be a smart pick up for a League One side if Palace let him leave this summer. Outstanding loan spell with Bradford where he has been one of the most creative players in L2. Another creative option with an eye for goal in this following list that I'd take is out-of-contract Jonny Williams who has been excellent for Swindon and likewise the excellent Luke Bolton at Salford who provides a versatile option on the right hand side.
Ruben Rodrigues got 12 goals and 10 assists in 27 games in his last season at Den Bosch in the Dutch 2nd tier before moving to Notts County. 10 goals in his first season with County, then 20 goals and 6 assists during 21/22 and he has 17 goals and 14 assists so far this season. Out-of-contract this summer.
Big John still running games I see

I want us to go and get some absolute unit centre backs for next year. The sort of people that love to defend. The lot we have are far too soft and not aggressive enough

I expect Garang Kuol to join us on loan in summer was interested in him in jan and I’d also expect Harvey Vale on loan from Chelsea another one we would have signed but couldn’t get it done due to him playing for 2 teams this season.

Just a guess, or a bit of substance behind that? Just a guess but we’re interested in Kuol and we have a good relationship with Newcastle so can see him coming to us. Also Harvey vale was everything agreed just couldn’t sign him because already played for 2 clubs so wouldn’t surprise me if they agreed a deal for the summer.

Shaun Hutchinson and George Evans at Millwall are both out of contract and are experienced defenders. Hutchinson must be over 30 now but Evans below and are decent CHs. I think Evans had injury issues some years ago but both very solid players. Wages perhaps an issue but if we want to seriously challenge then we will need to get the players to do that.
UTG!

A couple of Craig Hinton, Steve Elliott, Mark Mchrystal, Tony Craig types will do nicely.
Experienced no nonsense, no thrills, proper Centre Halfs.
That's what we're lacking, leaders who will also improve the likes of Gibson, Connolly, Quansah etc or whoever is here next season.

Up till now JB has wanted "ball playing" centre halfs, hence one of the reason Alfie left. Do we think he is going to change and bring in no nonsense defenders that just "get rid" ofthe ball?

Maybe not. However he has come out and talked about the experience Plymouth have at the back. We certainly need more experience at the back.

I'd like George Evans as a CDM, he could work well in a partnership with Rossiter in a 4-2-3-1. I reckon Harlee Dean could be on the radar in terms of an experienced option at centre half. 6ft 3in, 31-year-old, out-of-contract at Birmingham with over 400 games in either League One or the Championship. If the Kacper Lopata deal to Barnsley isn't finalised I'd look to hijack that one if possible. 6ft 4in, aggressive and dominant centre half that seems ideal, especially with him knowing North Bristol so well having grown up in the area.

Could Tyler Blackett be an option as another Left sided Centre Back/Left Back
Think his contract with Rotherham finishes at end of the season.
Wasn't there interest from us earlier this season? Or he was training with us briefly?
Plenty of experience having played in the Premier League and 120+ games at Championship level.

Really would like to see things settle down for next season. We seem to be stuck in a cycle of working in crisis mode when it comes to recruitment. I know JB sees value at the end of the window but it puts us so behind in terms of gelling the matchday squad. We should be in better shape 23/24 in terms of budget as JB stated in this Januarys window that there was no point spending next seasons budget trying for 1 playoff spot. I kind of bought into this, and Januarys window has reaped us 6 wins in all comps this year. In JBs words 'going with kids' hasn't particularly worked. Developing youngsters is fine but they are here to make mistakes and suffer all the inconsistences that goes with age.
Would like to see Gibson and Ward re-signed for next season and possibly Bogarde back on loan for his age he is brave as a lion on the ball. Ward could cost some dosh as he will have some others in for him no doubt. Looking at the teams at the top they have experience and know-how thought-out the squad one thing we are lacking. Would like to see an experienced defender of proven L1 quality bought in as a priority, we have shipped way to many goals to be any where near top 6.
Some players need to do better, some need to leave and others have done well and not always appreciated maybe man management, with the right additions we aren't a million miles off!
