Squad 23/24

I think there’s at least as much chance of Grant Ward agreeing a new contract and staying as there is Harry Anderson agreeing a new contract. Also think there’s a fairly good chance of Gibson staying with us (possibly Balcombe too), but all of Coburn, Quansah, and Bogarde look likely to be going back from what’s been said. Would love a genuine quality competition keeper in like Conor Ripley, but more likely we’ll sign another loan, or a free agent on their way up or down. Still rate Belly highly so as long as there’s cover we’re all good… maybe time for Jed to step up?

I’d give Rodman another 3 years

Taylor very good in L2, not made it in Champ, so will he be good in L1?
Remember other fans favourites from pre season causing concern with some now?

As we enter the last week of the season, think anything has changed?
I think Grant Ward will sign a contract. Gibson may return on a perm and Bogarde and Balcombe on loans.
Azza might not go as not sure anyone will offer £2.5M plus needed on his current scoring form

Anderson seems to make regular appearances from the bench so he could well still be part of JB's plans for next season?

Stoke, like us, don't have a lot to play for so might be reviewing players, like us.
Newcastle playing for top 4 finish therefore not taking any risks.

Sure that JB liKes him but doesn’t seem to be a regular first choice pick ( though I know he has has injury problems)

But if he has the chance to be a first team player elsewhere rather than a sub with us then he is likely to be off.

I think With Gibson being on Double of what Collins is on, I cant see us taking him on unless he is willing to come down on wages! Maybe if his contract says he has to take a reduction if relegated then we may have a chance.  Shame as a decent young player but these fringe prem clubs players are still on crazy money!

I would really like to see JB be brutal and prune the squad right back - cutting out those who are not good enough and have shown it this season.... trouble is though I have little confidence in Eddy Jennings getting sufficient new players in to replace. Equally I don't believe JB will admit to getting three or more signings / contracts wrong.

I think we could well end up carrying some again unless a fab pre -season shakes them up enough to be better at L1 level.

Not sure where all the vibe re Belshaw leaving is originating from - Thought he was settled here and hoped that he and JB  are good pals again. Would not be surprised at all if Balcombe was offered permanent terms here for next season.

JB is a fan of Gibson + Coburn and is keen they are back here next season - Hope this happens but we will need a First choice striker in addition if AC leaves.. 

Midfield is a concern - A month ago I would have said Grant Ward will defo sign and be part of things next season - Not so sure now and will try and find out more on Sunday and again Monday evening.  Bogarde didn't seem over keen on returning when interviewed or it was simply a case of a young guy not comfortable in front of a microphone - no idea.

All in all - this Summer is huge for Rovers - Get it right and we will push on another step closer to play off potential - Get it wrong and we will absolutely struggle. I don't agree that the squad just needs tweaking - it needs an overhaul and then bedding in, so truly JB needs to get some proper business done early.
