Most important signing is a new consistent goalkeeper, that the defence can trust and the attack can rely on, to play the ball out quickly when needed.

He’s not in the first team set up - he’s head of the academy which is completely different to coaching Thanks for the clarification. Always though Academy Head organised coaching of the academy players. Didn't realise you had to be in the first team before you got coached. Explains the defensive record I suppose? No Head of Academy is a managerial and organisational head role. The academy employ coaches across the numerous age groups to coach relevant to the ages that they are. If you were at the game yesterday you would have seen the coaches walking round the pitch at half time with all of them. The Academy Head manages the coaches and all of that including budgets and the intake and scouting set up etc. The Academy and the First team are separate units within the club who work closely together to meet mutual aims but have separate coaches, physios, nutritionists and the academy also link in with local colleges to provide educational elements and possibly may provide teaching too. (I know the Community Trust have an education department and teachers who support their college courses that they run).

I’ll happily drive him to Nottingham to go to his home town club, awful keeper who's beaten far to easily repeatedly, and who can’t distribute the ball quickly enough, people only like him as he claps the Thatchers and plays up to them.

Harsh 😂 Tend to agree though that he isn’t the best of keepers and the amount of times he’s beaten from shots outside the box is just not good enough. Needs replacing.

Wouldn’t say harsh….. just truthful, I’ll take a whip around for the petrol money. The fear when the opposition hit a ball from 20-25 yards out at him, time and time again it just goes in.

We signed him as a reject from Harrogate!

And we will be freeing up Jaak’s wages Don’t forget Rodmans. I assume Rodman's wages will go towards replacing outfield players, unless JB going to sign one of the most expensive goalies in L1 next season. Likewise Jaakola's wages will go towards paying for his replacement.

Fed up of watching Belshaw pass it out to the defender to pass it back to him yet again when we are one nil down with Collins etc screaming for the quick ball forward.

Nothing to stop a defender launching it once he receives the ball so they must be playing to JB's orders?

Finding a decent 'sweeper keeper' at this level who is much better than Belshaw wont be easy. Balcombe isn't any better in my opinion.

A CM who can pick the right pass. We were a very good possession side this season but most of that possession was in our bottom third. We wasted too many final balls that were late, short or long that often came at the end of some nice passing play.
Marquis, Collins, even Coburn are capable of getting the correct side of the last man so the strikers are OK. Other than SS, there were far less interchanges between midfield and striker for midfield to shoot, compared to last season. Much of that being down to Evans' bizarre loss of ability/form/headspace for most of this campaign.
So, a head up creative CM who can give and go, with vision for a final pass is what we need/missed this year based on our possession style of football.

I don't think replacing Belshaw is at the top of our priority list, If we improve central defence and the players just in front of them. I believe Belly will improve. He's made a few mistakes this season and takes a bit longer to launch the ball up field then he needs to, but I'll be happy if he stays as no one next season.

With Anssi out of contract I would like a real competitor for No1 to come in. With Jed Ward getting good National League experience. Some people are quick to reach the “get him gone” stage with too many players and it just costs us!
