As you said, you have your opinion and are not seeking to change others. So why are you continuing to litter this forum with this rubbish? How about joining one of the other topics under discussion?

ConservativeWoman.co.uk has a known agenda and a misleading domain address... ...as an aside, for those who know how statistical anomalies work this seems to be a clear and obvious example. When the sample size is reduced, what would previously have been minor statistical blips are magnified as a percentage...not as a cause....

This getting effing silly now. Andrew *ING Bridgen. I mean really.... They shoot horses, don't they? He's not the most popular but he's an MP who is single handedly bringing the topic to the house. He seems to have mustered medical professionals for this latest round which should be of interest to some. As for littering the forum, I don't think my content nearly compares with some of the gash on here! It's topical, it obviously splits opinion but I'm a minority of one from 5 on this board so it's not that much of a hinderence. You can lobby your mod mates and have me booted or threads locked if you want oldie, but that would be a little hypocritical based on your mockery of my comments in the past. As for other topics, they'd follow a similar pattern. Brexit, politics, Ukraine, Israel, I'd disagree with you lot on pretty much every angle, so what's the point? I've got a life away from this board believe it or not!👍🏼

The data that we were being fed daily was manipulated too. The brackets of mortality can be played around with. Ave age was what, 82 wasn't it? Yet they'd have you believe that everybody was at the same risk. They changed the messaging throughout, flatten the curve, protect the most vulnerable, choice to vax, can't stand up in the pub!, within 30 days, from covid/with covid, etc. I'm sure we can agree that data sets are not always totally reliable. This type of publication would have been blocked 2 years ago..

Supergas and France are in favour of Brexit but have a qualified backing for Isreal as I do but my views on Brexit are well known. I sometimes disagree with Oldie and Yatton on some topics like the UK constitution/ role of the monarchy or history, Trevorgas has a view on Brexit I don't share but tends to align with regards to politics in general. The only poster who would go with your views on Covid is Pirate but you two are polar opposite on Isreal. Ukraine? I don't recall your views on that off hand. There is a lot more disagreement on here than you realise, overall there is a general consensus but the nuances can be significant.

I still can't be motivated to join topics with the locals as its more about personalities than topics. I can also see that some people are full time online contributors which I don't have capicity for. Too much BS opinion without any emotion, experience or consequence. Covid is one that I'm interested in and is relevant. The other stuff is just on sky news.

Contrary to Chris Wittys latest ramblings, these economists report that lockdoachieved far less than advertised in terms of dating lives. The real cost was the economic damage. They use Sweden as a gauge whereas I used to talk about other nations, especially those in countries Where's lockdowns and western meds are not culturally achievable-African countries expecially. I had a chat to a local Bangladeshi last weekend whilst waiting for my curry. He says that in his country, they self isolate and notify the neighbours by hanging a branch on the door. Self medicate and sit it out until feeling better. A little bit like what we mostly did in this country before, well certainly how we did it for flu or other respiratory virus. iea.org.uk/media/lockdowns-were-a-costly-failure-finds-new-iea-book/

IEA free market think tank 🙄😂 Yeah, but added weight by the bloke down the curry house. I find it hard to believe that any intelligent person would actually write that and not be embarrassed.

Real life story. Anyway, you've been kind enough to tell me on many occasions how unintelligent I am so your jibe is a bit odd! As for the link, is that less valid than Bojos daily updates..hmm, I doubt it. I dont think there's a strong argument to justify the damage to the economy. Ave age of mortality at 82 with a 99% survival rate doesn't make it sensible to shut schools.

The link states that the restrictions did save lives, I guess it depends on what level is acceptable, even these figures aren't insignificant. Shelter-in-place (stay at home) orders in Europe and the United States reduced COVID mortality by between 1.4 and 4.1 per cent; Business closures reduced mortality by 7.5 per cent; Gathering limits likely increased COVID mortality by almost six per cent; Mask mandates, which most countries avoided in Spring 2020, reduced mortality by 18.7 per cent, particularly mandates in workplaces; and School closures resulted in a between 2.5 per cent and 6.2 per cent mortality reduction.

Of course, and that's the debate isn't it. The message from our leaders to justify the interventions didn't return the results, plus had a huge impact on the economy. Added to this the increase in nhs waiting lists and the mental health issues for kids and stressed adults is likely to turn any small % benefits upside down. Protecting the most vulnerable was obviously the way to go, plus self policing and common sense. To lock down the healthy, and stop kids and people without symptoms contributing to the country was foolish. The elephant in the room is excess mortality which only Bridgen is shouting about. That mortality % over a longer term will show that previously healthy people will suffer way more that what covid could ever have done.

Excess mortality isn't necessarily that useful as a number of other factors would skew the figures. Death from other flu like illnesses were down offsetting the covid numbers, for example, or the effect of long covid.
