Saw them both during the week down at the quarters. Luke Thomas has now been announced and the forward has already been mentioned on this thread. Trouble is even when a players turns up for talks or a medical there’s still no guarantee it’s going to go through. So it must be Smyth or Jevani Brown, and I doubt the second one will happen so must of seen Smyth down the quarters. Let’s hope this is wrong |

He hasn't played for Exeter since January after being charged with assaulting two women, with him admitting one of the charges. Yeah. That’s why I said gamble. In court on the 7th I understand Any idea what the circumstances were of the case against him? |

The thing is that we have already set a precedent by employing a manager who had an outstanding court case and we know how that turned out. How is Jevanni Brown any different? Kyle Dempsey was man of the match for Bolton in the Papa John and was getting rave reviews in the Wembley play offs and yet he played all season despite the fact that in July 2022 he and his father were charged with assaulting a club bouncer and if you google the incident you can see how nasty that was. if he had played for Exeter and not Bolton he would have been suspended for all last season. Dont get me wrong i am not condoning any poor behaviour and i know nothing about Brown but i am simply saying that we live in a system where it is innocent until proven guilty and the guy should be able to continue his career until his situation changes. |

Anyone know what - Getting business done early means? Appreciate the window hasn’t officially opened yet but other than resigning our own there doesn’t seem to be a lot happening. Maybe Jennings hasn’t got WI-Fi on his saga cruise? I thought ‘ Gide’ would mean players through the door for Day One of preseason ? That’s about 20 days away. The 12 needed I am guesstimating is now 10 as surely Harvey isn’t the missing top six link. Five on loan - later in the window because as we all know that’s where the value is and therefore five more over the next three weeks ? Serious question though when is the deadline for getting things done ‘early’ I think the club have done as promised and got their businesses done early, but decided to delay all of the announcements until just before preseason kicks off. |

He has plead guilty to one charge. i understand that - but it may be a misdemeanour for all we know. If someone stands deliberately in your way and you push them away then that could be assault. it happens on the football pitch about 20 times a game - high profile people are targets. Again i am not saying that is what happened - just trying to say that we should not judge as we don't know the facts. |

I don’t disagree. I’m not against signing him and footballers don’t need to be “whiter than white” but I would like to have a bit of an understanding about what actually occurred so I can make my own mind up - the legal terminology for offences can be so vague and wide ranging, some serious and some far more trivial. I only did a quick google search and couldn’t find much. In the meantime I’m happy to trust the judgement of Wael, TG and management. Perhaps the announcement of the club record signing of Gibson or Connor Taylor at the same time as Brown being announced would be a good strategy 😁!! |
