I agree with you, we've got plenty of (really pretty good) youngsters, I don't see any issue with players over 30, especially in positions like a big number 9 where flat out pace and ability to run forever are not so important. I think people forget just how good Andy Carroll was, I think he had some issues with injury and was always judged by the frankly stupid amount Liverpool paid for him at the time. I think he could do a pretty decent job in League One. He scored a very respectable goal every 216 minutes in the Championship last season with 9 goals from 23 starts (7 sub apps). What you don't get is a stat for every set piece he'll head clear away at a team like Wycombe on a Tuesday night. When we sold Ellis Harrison I think we missed that part of his game as much as his goals

And this data from 21/22 shows just how aerially dominant he is....

You'd take that wouldn't you, with what else he brings physically, especially at set pieces at both ends. So started 50%, not bad at his age given his history.

We would struggle to find a striker who works as hard as Marquis for the team . However John has temp misplaced his scoring boots . He also needs competition . If an older player comes on for the last 15-20 minutes after JM has tired out the defence somewhat. That could work well. Carroll might be happy doing that ,cant see JCH wanting that.
I cant see Rovers currently wanting to /be able to spend the kind of money to bring in Nombe or JCH. A free transfer on higher wages...perhaps.

Never go back to a team after leaving. I guess you’re being ironic given your username is Bobby Jones!! We’ve made a habit of getting players back for a second or third time who’ve made a good fist of it in their subsequent speii. Besides Bobby there’s been - Alfie Biggs Phil Bater Vaughan Jones Paul Randall Tony Pulis Steve White Gary Penrice Ian Holloway Chris Lines and of course there’s plenty of two spellers in the current squad including Scott Sinclair

Would love Big AC in to replace Lofty.... Work Rate, Goals & Mates with Joey! Loved watching him, literal battering ram for West Ham over the years.

Sunderland allowing Alex Pritchard to move on - probably out of budget but heck of a player.

Also worth noting Cheltenham Head of Recruitment was watching Lofty (reportedly) vs Barnsley at home.

Surely it’s got to be someone with the initials DC to work with Azza? AC/AC doesn’t look right! And we couldn’t then have Thunderstruck as walkout music.

Peterborough United have received bids from two clubs for Wrexham-linked striker Kabongo Tshimanga, as detailed in a report by the Peterborough Telegraph.
Dare I say it, this could be us? Cheaper option & younger than JCH?

Sunderland allowing Alex Pritchard to move on - probably out of budget but heck of a player. Looking at the Sunderland fans response then they seem to think it's because he wants to move south due to family reasons. I remember he was at Swindon at one point but he's more London way isn't he?
