Well considering we always loose both the first game and away to Portsmouth, we are putting two guaranteed defeats into one here!

Look on the bright side - maximum points in October.

Then home to Barnsley. Two tough opening fixtures. Hopefully Pompey will not have been able to bed in all their new signings so could be a good time to play them away. Whilst we bed in all our signings (who yet to sign)?

Portsmouth, Charlton and Reading away all in the 1st month.
I'm looking forward to those already.
Definite big Gas followings for all of them.
Bring it on!

A very tough start. Also we play 3 out of first 4 away and also 3 out of last four games away. End of season may not work out that way though due to cancellations and our record breaking cup runs! Christmas in Blackpool anyone!

Am I the only one thinking that the league in general looks much weaker than previous seasons? Nobody to fear really. Stupidly optimistic…roll on August so I can get a dose of reality!! 🤣

Tough or not tough start to season is based on the 'past' and historical reputation, Pompey were very poor first half of last season, we gave Barnsley a severe test at home last season , no one quite knows how the season is going to unfold yet ,there will be a surprise team or two at the top and some of the fancied runners will have less than impressive starts, we will be among the former of course!

That is a really tough August and September doesn’t look any easier. I reckon if we are anywhere near mid table by the time we play Port Vale we could be in for a decent season.

Thinking about driving to Charlton away but parking somewhere in the outskirts and getting the tube in and out.
Anyone suggestions as best tube station to park at without going into inner London?

All the pressure will be on Pompey to get off to a flyer. Lots of home debuts for players who their manager has said were the club's number one targets. Sneaky away win incoming, big Johnny Marquis to show em what they're missing.

Stupidly optimistic…roll on August so I can get a dose of reality!! 🤣 Well there's no Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday or Ipswich unlike the last few years. There's still Derby, Portsmouth, Bolton and Barnsley who will be strong again this year though. I think Charlton will be challenging this year as well. It'll be a tighter league this year imo, I cant see the top 3 teams all getting close to 100 points again. Last season was pretty unique in that respect.

Parking around Ealing Common and getting the overground from Ealing Broadway to Bond St then jump on the tube from Bond St to North Greenwich is pretty quick and straightforward. About a 30 minute journey.
