This might not be popular but it troubles me how many people feel it’s ok if Jevani Brown assaulted someone under the basis that they were being racist. Racial insults (let’s be precise about this - because if hed been assaulted this would be something very different altogether) is definitely not ok but it alarms me how this has been elevated into this form of trump card insult which allows the recipient or anyone offended on their behalf to act as they please. Where do we draw the line? Eye for an eye and all that. Not to provoke politics but this here is the reason some of us whinge about what is perceived as constant campaigning over racism sexism, and homophobia. This gets misconstrued as “you want to get away with it! I’ve caught you out!” When it’s not, it’s an inner groan at this being seemingly the sole issue. I think things like abuse of children and one other thing, pensioner poverty and loneliness are bigger evils. Do we have a flag or a gesture for that? Are supermarkets running campaigns and selling t shirts to support this? No. It’s the same old broken record. It is indeed elevated almost above everything and while it’s unpleasant, I think we all get the message - it’s wrong, but there are other things worth addressing. I think to be fair if someone outright racially abused someone then it’s fair dos if they get chinned. I would support this on some level but strictly speaking I think that restraint is better. But it’s not like I’d be up in arms if some dude just got abused and he kicked the shyt out of someone for it. Its kind of like yeah you shouldn’t do it but fair play, give him a smacked wrist, call him a naughty boy and then buy him a pint on the sly. It also might be an age thing. I don’t remember a world of the NF running amok painting slogans and signs outside pubs. Most of my life the overriding theme has been diversity and acceptance. Perhaps if I’d lived through the the older times I’d not groan and think at last we are moving on. Coincidental that you should post that today. Over the weekend a member of the "Royal" family announced an initiative into homelessness as it affects children, whilst at the same time the Met apologised and admitted another screw up (if that's what it really was) from the Stephen Lawrence case of 30 years ago. Just two examples of why the pressure on incompetence, outright racism and a cynical disregard by governments should be maintained. How one chooses to do that is down to the individual, surely? It's not for us to say "stop, it's boring". Or worse, the protest has gone too far, when examples emerge everyday.

Just read a report that says we have signed him, he is set to join the club at the end of this month. So looks like Brown is heading here whether you like it or not. If the FLW report is correct of course.

If this report is true then I would guarantee that there is something in his contract saying if guilty the contract would be void, if found not guilty we have a very good player on our hands

If he’s found guilty in a bad way, do Utilitia step away from us, does the local MP make a statement, it will be all over TalkSPORT because it’s all Barton related, this is all a “potential” PR disaster for a Div1 football and a fan base already split, I just don’t get why we couldn’t wait will 6th July, perhaps we will wait till then? fan base is that split that the club has now removed a stand because some no longer want to go and Rees gets his head out of his backside to make a statement on this signing.

I understand the points that are being made but i am also aware that I as a middle class white person in a gentified part south west have no real understanding of the racism that still exists in this country. Don't get me wrong i used to think that i had some grasp of what it was like until the day that i walked onto a pub with a friend and heard all of the conversation stop and the room went absolutely silent as he walked in. i wanted to stay but he insisted that we leave . A few years ago , i attended a wedding as a guest of a work colleague in Bradford. Most of the people on my table were locals and the racist rhetoric casually banded about shocked me . It wasn't a colour thing but more against a certain nationality who were perceived as lazy and troublemakers. i could not believe that in this day and age it still went on but believe you me it does and just because you personally don't experience it doesnt mean that the problem has gone

Lots of whiter than white righteousness being written today! By all probability we all stand next to a wife beater/peado on the terraces every Saturday too. Perhaps you better not go and watch rovers for that reason too? Just a thought but would you have Ronaldo playing for Rovers given the chance seeing he payed hush money to a woman over an alleged rape? Or Cantona after his Kung fu kick? Is the guy never allowed to work again? Yes he deserves to be punished but he surely must be allowed to try and turn his life round and move on? All I want is to see us do well Yet he who hath not sinned cast the first stone is the saying UTG You think that there are somewhere in the region of 4,000 women beaters and Nonces at the Mem every other week? Good lord.

He will be sentenced following the outcome of the second charge.

Him pleading guilty to one charge is in the public domain following his last court appearance. "Jevani Brown, aged 28, appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court today and pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating following an incident in Musgrave Road in the early hours of February 2nd.23 Mar 2023"

My views on this sort of signing have come full circle. Was completely against now just don't care. A) He has to earn a living somewhere. B) Perhaps he is a young man that needs some guidance and support? Maybe JB with his experience and journey through life is the man to help! Using the same logic let's hope JB can sign Ivon Toney from Brentford so he can help him overcome his gambling addition. 😀 Exactly as long as he does what he's paid to do on the field who cares about his private life were not the one's paying his wages. Do you mean that? If someone’s ‘private life’ included greater levels of violence such as rape or paedophilia then I would care about someone’s private life and their suitability to represent BRFC in a high profile position. Regarding Jevani Brown, let’s wait and see what the courts say. Not too different from JB two years ago though I doubt the lady involved will change her position. UTG!

I'm not having a dig I'm just interested?

"Jevani Brown, aged 28, appeared at Exeter Crown Court today and pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating following an incident in Musgrave Road in the early hours of February 2nd.23 Mar 2023" He had the support of Exeter's manager and fans board member at that trial. Assault could be anything from shouting, to beating. He could have pleaded guilty to a push. So the fact he pleaded guilty tells us nothing at this stage. Once we hear what he pleaded guilty to and what the circumstances are, people can judge. You would have thought that we have looked into it already and we know more than the fans on here. Can't go by tweets from the others involved, they will stick up for their own.

He will be sentenced following the outcome of the second charge. how can you be so sure, why would Rovers go this far, what's the point? Which begs the question, if we are including a clause subject to the verdict, why are we pursuing this unless we are confident that any guilty result will be of a 'less serious' nature that wouldn't mean us triggering said clause. Otherwise we are wasting our time and should look elsewhere, both on a practical, football front and morally.

Second time I somehow have been quoted a figure when I haven’t. I just highlighted that there are wrong uns amongst us. That guy called Joe 90 springs to mind.
