Definite no from me, his history and on going issues is a no, on top of that he’s hardly prolific in professional football, one in five, nah, pass this one on by. Next we will have Mason Greenwood training with us. The BL article paints a different picture? Brown is available following his release at League One rivals Exeter having been named the Grecians’ Player of the Year. He didn’t play for the club following his arrest on February 2 but did continue to train with the squad. He was officially suspended in February during a career-best season in which he scored 12 goals and added nine assists, with his overall goal involvements at that time only behind Rovers striker Aaron Collins and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland across the Premier League and EFL.
I can't understand how Exeter allowed him to be named players Player of the Year after suspending him! You have to sense we're getting a player normally worth £100K's on a free transfer, whether that's worth all the bad publicity is another matter.

It's strange Bristol Live have ran this story when they've not published anything else recently, I assume the club's leaked this news to either test fans reactions or just to soften us up for when his signing is officially announced next week. Nope, this is the source. Exeter forum saying he’s reliable Bristol Live have published a lengthy article suggesting he's already even been to the Quarters, somebody from the club has clearly leaked the info.

Goals only, Assists as it should be called not goal contributions doesn’t matter to me, goal scoring simply isn’t good enough, let alone the attitude of the player. Give me Ryan Loft or big John any day of the week over this guy. 13 in 84 for Cambridge 7 in 51 for Colchester 0 in 5 for FGR 19 in 70 for Exeter Hardly prolific, looks like maybe one good season, anyway I’d rather not, let’s come out of the gutter .

Any type of assault is unacceptable but we don't know the details or circumstances of the incident and there are varying degrees of assault.
Has he been involved in anything similar in the past? What's his disciplinary record on the pitch?
From a purely football perspective it looks like a great signing. If he can learn from this mistake and get back to the form he showed for Exeter last season we'll have a top player on a free.

I mean the very definition by law goes… “The charge of assault by beating or battery can be applicable even when the force used against another is very slight. For example, a push or a spit may constitute an assault by beating. The victim does not have to suffer any injuries” Yet some in here have him down as vile & on par with a convicted sex attacker by default, with zero facts of the incident established.

From a personal perspective however I don’t want a bloke who beats up women. Having Barton is bad enough for PR and the family nature of the club let alone someone who’s pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, regardless of what it was

Due diligence? He has admitted one charge, so is definitely getting some sort of punishment. New Bristol Rovers striker guilty of assaulting a women is a fantastic look At least Exeter had the balls to suspend their striker and not play him beyond January Your assuming he's guilty even before he's been tried, it may have all been blown out of epic proportions I always reserve judgement until after the outcome of the trial. There's 3 sides to a story.... his side, her side and the truth and the truth will come out in court. If he's found guilty and he has signed a contract then that contract should be null and void. Think about it logically Wael wouldn't want to alienate the clubs female supporters with controversial signing Thinking about it logically Wael wouldn't want to alienate the club's male supporters either

Gotta love the teds trying to take the moral high ground for a signing we havent even made.... yet they signed Danny 'wife beater' Simpson That lot will jump on anything they could about us, if it wasn't this it would be something else, just have to ignore that lot, we all know they are just the best club in the world that are practically perfect in every way just like Mary Poppins

Great idea, we could rename the Quarters the Men's Quarters and turn into a shelter for victims of female abuse. Joey boy knows a good lawyer.

We don’t know the full story. It’ll come out in the wash.
And for all we know the proposed contracts could have clauses which allow us to terminate the contract should it be proven in court that he has done something horrific.
On that basis it could work out quite nicely indeed if it turns out the offences are relatively minor.
Society doesn’t allow for shades of grey any more and I think that’s a shame.

I can see why fans are split over him signing but I will wait until the case to form my views on him as a person. Yes he has pleaded guilty to assault by beating but forgive me if I'm wrong but I have not seen it reported what type of assault it was. Punch or slap then yes for me that is way too much but if its a spit at the women or a grab on her arm which also comes under assault by beating with him telling her to watch her mouth following the claims so far by his legal team that there was racism thrown at him by the women then for me that would change my view on the case and himself massively. There is going to be alot of rumours with some Exeter fans claiming that the women was drunk and stuck a phone in his face and he then pushed her away. What the case will do is tell the story which opinions can then be made.

As I said, any assault is unacceptable but it's easy to get involved in something on a drunken night out, particularly if you're provoked. I think it's highly unlikely he just walked up to some random women and punched her in the face.
That doesn't make it right and he'll have to face the consequences of his actions but some women can be as vile as men on drunken nights out and none of us know the exact circumstances that led to this incident.
There are also many varying degrees of assault. I haven't seen any details of exactly what injuries, if any, this woman is claiming she suffered.
If he has a long history of this sort of thing then it's a big gamble. If he has a terrible disciplinary record on the pitch then it's a risk.
I expect the club know more than we do. If this seems to be a one off and out of character then I think he deserves a chance to rebuild his career.

I am surprised Rovers have retained Ryan Loft as he is an infrequent goalscorer and rather injury-prone!

Bristol City’s firm to announce an orgy of head stoving to raise funds to kick violence out of football?

As people have said, we don't know the full story. When he was leaving court after playing guilty, Exeter's manager and one of their fans on the board were with him. So did he plead guilty to a push, our something similar?
Blackman was the Exeter player with him that night, so I take it they are good friends. Would you take them both??
