His latest RT is questionable to say the least……why is our manager getting involved in sensitive subjects like the Mendy rape trail? His latest RT is to congratulate the Newcastle United Foundation Downs syndrome team who won a cup Oh sorry, his retweet before the latest one then. Don’t be pedantic, you know exactly what tweet I am talking about. Do you think it’s the sort of thing that the manager of our club should be retweeting?

Now you’re being picky he’s quite tweeted one professional footballer asking who’s going to help another footballer who’s just been cleared of rape. The guys been found innocent in a court of law and is without a club. We get it Barton’s got a past he’s probably not a nice guy and he’s controversial but none of these tweets are.

I'm amazed at the number of Barton 'haters' emerging on this thread, including one or two notable ones who previously defended everything about the club.
I'm not amazed at the dislike of JB. I have no time for the man at all. But what has made so many come out and condemn him now? Watching a dodgy video interview? Is this really what opened the floodgates? The straw that broke the camel's back?
To me that comes well down the list of his many unsavoury episodes and incidents, but seems to have elicited a big response this time, when other more dodgy stuff in the past has left some of us sceptics being told to 'go to Ashton Gate then'.

Do you understand how hard it is to get a rape charge to stand in court? Do you think the manager and face of the club should be involving himself with a high profile controversy? I suspect if he had a Robin on his tracksuit you’d have a different view.

And wouldn’t matter if he had a Robin on I’m not that petty or lived a sheltered life that tweets bother me

Maybe for many it’s the straw that broke the camels back? Oi I said that already! Somehow I missed it 😂 What’s also telling is that there are less people defending and just staying silent. Listen, he has potential to be a good manager but it seems that every few months we have to go through something that just doesn’t sit right with many.

Come on Westy. Tucker Carlson was integral in spreading a false narrative on the last Presidential election. A narrative that led to violence on Capital Hill and people died. You cannot condone that surely, you cannot find that "interesting" without being repulsed, can you? Tbf Oldie The BBC have a statue depicting a naked child created by a known paedophile outside it's HQ while also covering up historic sexual abuse by monsters on the pay role like Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall etc. Doesn't seem to stop people viewing or posting BBC content does it? How far do we go? As I've said previously, it does seem like a witch hunt from the people who dislike Joey Barton. Got to agree there - it’s gone beyond the mere clutching of pearls and is rapidly approaching hysteria. It’s not as though Barton is preaching “Andrew Tate is the Messiah!” from the rooftops, is it? As far as I can see, he just commented that he watched the interview with Carlson and found some of it “thought-provoking”. That could mean absolutely f* cking anything! I’ve watched documentaries about Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, John Wayne Gacy and Lee Harvey Oswald and found them interesting, thought-provoking and containing plenty of food for thought; that doesn’t make me a raving neo-Nazi, neo-Bolshevik, potential serial killer or would-be Presidential assassin . . . At no point have I seen that Barton has endorsed Tate’s behaviour, opinions or alleged crimes, or recorded a video saying “Andrew Tate’s great, mate. Be sure to do what he says, kids.” Or words to that effect. And while we’re here, why can’t he have other businesses running alongside being our manager? Most players do, especially the ones further up the pyramid. I don’t care how many pies he’s got his fingers in, as long as he manages the club and coaches the team effectively. And as for people getting the arses out because of the “down to my last £20 million” remark, all I can say is . . . Really? Your lives must so grim and humourless if that pushes your buttons.

However, I’m not being picky. I have a view that is simply different to yours and that’s okay. Enjoy your weekend

I haven't said whether I like, or dislike Joey Barton. I just don't feel the need to vilify him at every opportunity, especially over such trivial and tenuous Twitter posts. If he wasn't our manager then you definitely wouldn't - nobody else does, same for all the clubs he's been at. I don't think a manager of a football club, who young men look up to, referring to a woman beating rapist as 'interesting' is trivial tbh. The generation of lads that are into this Tate bloke are the exact generation who, at BRFC, love Barton most (second place is the 50+ ex GHS blokes who read those cringe hooligan books). Wow

Yep, when a Rovers manager stars saying he finds those two weirdos comments interesting he deserves all the stick he gets, although perhaps this is all just a clever ploy so he can announce his subscription service and fleece his followers for money in the future, perhaps he's realised now Wael's not got unlimited funds!! So just by posting a tweet stating 'Interesting conversation. Definitely food for thought'. He deserves 'all the stick he gets'? That 1 statement from you Topper sums up modern society perfectly. Nobody seems to get that the best way to deal with extremist views is not to shut them down, or stifle debate, but to allow them to spout their nonsense, thereby opening themselves up to ridicule (which by & large they can’t deal with) and alternative opinions (ditto). The only thing you achieve by banishing them to dark corners is to make them appear dangerous & subversive, and therefore attractive.

This free speech argument goes both ways and we can call them all out for the grifting BS. The people that scream I’ve been cancelled the loudest are still banging on incessantly

A tweet in isolation, but things add up. Barton has expressed some interest in Rogan, Carlson, Kennedy Jnr etc recently. Mendy has been found not guilty, but by his own admission his status allowed him to sleep with a lot of women. Maybe all consensually, maybe not There are a lot of footballers publicly supporting Mendy. I understand why, but sometimes best to bite your tongue. If they want to help him, they can do it privately. Not like the Mendy trials have gotten no publicity. Go online and search Mason Greenwood. The amount of men defending him despite the evidence we all heard and saw is quite disturbing. That is why i think sharing stuff from garbage like Tate WITHOUT OFFERING ANY CONTEXT is dangerous. Its tacit endorsement. At least if you are rubbishing the sh**e they spout when sharing it, you are at least telling the 2.8m people that follow you, you think the bloke is stupid (or not if you choose to agree with him) Barton has some reach, and lets be honest that is one of the reasons he was appointed manager because he has some name value (good and bad) and Rovers want that association. Some people might think what Joey says and thinks dont matter, but many do and its more than just a few Rovers fans who think sharing the Tate stuff how he did he is wrong

The only thing worse in this life than supporting Andrew Tate is to be an authoritarian bully, and we have plenty of these cowards everywhere.
