Lots of possession. Everyone playing ok. Little slow to make the decisive pass. Best chance a long range shot from Brown easily held.
Needs a cutting edge.
Look better down the left than right so far.

Brentford's No.9 Aaron Pressley had a good loan at Accrington scoring 6 in 22.
Could be a good addition.

Deserved lead. Good pressure down the left again. Finally get some luck in the box as Hoole is fouled.

Agreed, we didn’t have a defensive coach and when utility defender Anderton was ruled out Kilgour was our senior centre half. Then JC got that stress fracture in his back. I’d be nervous stepping back into professional football in a makeshift defence that was already leaking goals for fun. This season there are two additions that can act as defensive coaches on the pitch and can work out the glitches that have crept into his game through their experience. Gibson, Thomas and Quansah were busy with their own games, were parachuted into our back four and whilst they may have made helpful suggestions they would not have imposed themselves and insisted on what must be done the way an experienced senior pro would. I think there is still a gem there with Connolly he just had a difficult second full season and he won’t have been the first to go through that. |
