Better team won unfortunately. Our midfield looked slow and ponderous in comparison

I'm not sure how that Keira Walsh is supposed to be one of our best players. By far and away the worst player on the pitch as she was in the semi final as well.

The women have done incredibly well to get to where they are.
Having said that, today’s performance was abject. We didn’t create any chances and decision making was incredibly poor (Bronze shooting from 35 yards, giving away cheap fouls). The Spanish are the masters of the dark arts and I thought the ref handled the game badly.

So not an Excuse, But the ref was shocking in the semi final that we won against the Aussies and arguably even worse today! My biggest gripe, Bronze rushes to get the ball & take a throw with Ten mins or so left & a player already on a yellow card boots the ball away, not just a few yards down the line but over the advertising boards and into the stand. No second yellow? Nothing. As clear a red you’ll ever see. Then there was the clear foul on James right on the edge of the box, waved away as a ball winning tackle (when bundled over from behind) frustrating.

Everyone being very polite on here which isn't a bad thing. If that was the mans game people would be fuming. Really hope England kick on from this, a lot more countries catching up with the bigger teams. I see the dark arts are also prevalent in the womens game which isn't great, something for VAR perhaps in the mens and womens game. Beaten by the better team, cap doffed.

Best tam won, we did not create any chances apart from the one against bar, Spanish looked more accomplished on the ball, we did threaten a bit with Kelly on the right but then had no one in middle to target, Couldn't get James into game, Earp's a star, very confident and Schmeichel like with the mouth! Not gonna jump on the Bronze bashing band wagon, yes it was not her best game but she is usually so reliable.

It’s what makes it even more of a gutter, an uncharacteristic error from someone normally so solid.

This squad is creating a legacy.
Really surprised the club are not making more of it. No doubt the CT will be promoting the Gas Girls, but it would be good if the women were to play at the Mem - WFA cup perhaps? and the men's first team squad came along to support.
If it was played on a Sunday, there could be a special hospitality with a roast, a 50/50 and some Gas Girls merchandise on sale which could earn the girls some money and help them move up the pyramid.
Maybe 4-6 years is too short a timescale for a Gas Girls player to be involved in a major tournament, but if they continue to progress, then who knows, the Gas Girls may be in the top division not long after.

The Gas Girls we’re unlucky not to get promoted again last season finishing 2nd having led the division for a long time but having watched them today in their pre-season friendly against Bath City, they look sharper still even though they lost a couple of players to other teams in higher divisions…. They won today 9-0 and people forget that the Gas Girls are ran entirely by volunteers and on donations and sponsorship from local businesses that the Community Trust help facilitate… the club don’t fund them at all… I think they’ll be able to go up another division (maybe 2) but then won’t be able to go much further unless they get significant investment…. I think they’re currently tier 5 so 4 divisions below women’s super league…. They’re a decent watch and a well drilled team…. The development squad are tier 6 ….

They did have the game against FGR at the mem. I got the impression it wasn't as straightforward as you'd hope. I'd imagine there is some rule about having a fixed home ground for the season.
