Shame about the kick off times and our key injuries. Looks like Millie Bright might get over hers just in till time though .

Yes good luck to the girls, i do think are chances of success have diminished somewhat due to injuries to key players, then again perhaps someone else will step up and make a name for them selves, hope so.

Just thought I'd mention that I currently live in Perth WA and whilst we're a bit annoyed there are no England and/or Australia games here, the games that are being played here are reasonably priced and seem to be selling well. Canada v Republic of Ireland and Denmark vs China adult seats from $20 (£10.50)...
...not often I would say FIFA or our local authorities do things well, but this can only grow the game within their target market - for reference, to go to the Spurs v West Ham tour game this week the tickets start from $50 (£26) and the next AFL game starts from $38 (£20)...

No Mead or Williamson, two huge losses there. Had us down for another final with a fully fit squad plus the new additions but without those two I feel like our chances of lifting the big one have lessened to say the least.

Hopefully the ladies will take inspiration from the Ashes performances, in what has been a fantastic series so far 👍🏾

World Cup song by Hope FC now online, Call Me A Lioness.
Great if crowds pick this up rather than the same old 3 Lions and Sweet Caroline.

Thrilled to see some of the goalkeeping particularly. It’s been a while since there’s been a good comedy on TV 🤣

No interest - Standard is woeful in my opinion.
We were debating this week if Rovers would beat the England Womens team - Most thought they would. In fact pretty much all mens teams in the top five divisions would surely ?
Womens football is becoming more and more popular for Television audiences and surely will continue to do well - happy for them in that context, I support HGT and what they stand for as well - just wont be tuning in to the World Cup.

Did the USA ladies team lose to a schoolboys team in a friendly few years ago? I think you can probably go a lot lower than the top five men’s leagues tbh. Good luck England in the WC, I won’t be watching but hope they bring home the trophy 🤞

The technical ability from some of the Women in the top sides are definitely on a par imo. It's the power, fitness and stamina that is nowhere near the mens. The same in most sports. Well that and the Goalkeeping.

Rovers would beat England womens about 9-0... Someone like Azza or Sincs would fly past their players, and their keepers are about as good as Iraqi shoplifters.
Their play is slow, ponderous and error ridden. I'm not a sexist pig, but the truth can't lie - its a very poor standard - would I watch Welling v Hayes and Yeading? No... and I won't be watching this!
I hope we do well, although I don't really care for it, but I certainly won't be wasting my evenings watching it.
Regarding the media, I also get fed up of hearing about it - its almost like they try to wind the majority of male football fans up.
As for equal pay... don't get me started... I work in IT... I might go up to my boss tomorrow morning and demand I get Bill Gates' wage - its beyond compare.

Good luck England in the WC, I won’t be watching but hope they bring home the trophy 🤞 The world champions lost 7-0 to a team of under 15 boys. I think 2 professional men’s footballers beat a professional team of women. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch it per se, women’s tennis is really enjoyable despite men absolutely hammering them should they play each other. By extension we should never watch Rovers, as there are far better premiership clubs to support. As I’ve said before, my only ire with the women’s game is that it’s heavily promoted and I think the reason is football is seen as one of the last places men have which was loosely a men only zone. Not by design but by virtue of the fact men tend to really like football. This is problematic in the minds of left wingers and they’ve done all they can to stop it and make it a more open and inclusive sport. Which is fine, if that floats your boat I suppose. It just reeks of long beaked nosey Parkers sticking their beak in everywhere and trying to mould everyone else’s lives to what they deem acceptable. I mean, I don’t remember the last time someone got up in arms because say, crufts had 60% female trainers or whatever. It’s the busybody nature of it I object to not the thing itself.

Is it possible to have a thread dedicated to the Women's World Cup and just discuss the tournament?
Merits of women playing football or otherwise can have a separate thread.

Agreed, some people cant help themselves. I might start a thread for every sport, tv show and musician I dont like to tell everyone why and that they should stop promoting all of them. UTL

As mod, would rather see this thread dedicated to the tournament and our lionesses.

I'll probably have a gander, as I'm housebound at the moment. As long as the times don't clash with Homes Under the Hammer or Bargain Hunt.

The standard is lower, does that mean we should stop watching and supporting Rovers then because the prem is a far higher standard? Why do you get wound up by it? Because you're a sexist pig?
