Give it a few successful years and Saudi teams will be participants in the Champions League. It's bound to happen if the money starts flowing that way.

Getting the better players will allow the Saudis to make a better league and they won’t care about the same stuff we do. But because their clubs are so linked to the political system they don’t work under the same controls that we do. They can throw as much money as they want at players, stadiums, anything.
And when they start getting decent players in their prime and not just good players in their mid 30s looking for a final pay day others who wouldn’t normally consider Saudi Arabia will start to think maybe it will be easier, less stress, better climate for zillions of £s.
No real idea what the impact will be on teams in our lower leagues but there have been few developments in football that haven’t affected the lower leagues eventually a few years down the line. So we’ll all be able to have a laugh at the big clubs in this country perhaps being worried but I suspect it will be the smaller and middling PL clubs who suffer more. The top 7/8 clubs will still thrive and when they start getting worried about the financial controls and fair play limits they’ll just sell to the Saudis and get out of trouble.
One thing I do know is that the Saudis and the PL clubs will never consider what’s good for BRFC. They do things that will benefit them not us. We just pick up the scraps just as we’ve done since the PL started in 1992.
Whatever, UTG!

It won’t last you can’t just invent a football culture. Besides I wouldn’t be that bothered in money left the English game and instead we had local talents. Real hero’s to get behind who were doing it for the love of the city and the game. To be fair to the Saudi they do have a well established football culture and their using the wealth from oil etc to build on that. It’s not the same as china a few years back or Qatar recently. Not saying it’s right but how the hell can any country, be it Saudi or Serbia, break the hegemony of the top five European leagues without a boatload of cash. I’m sure they’d love to in Latin America but sadly money talks and it’s an exodus of talent - just like we’re beginning to see now.

Oldie, if our own government can’t be bothered to carry out a foreign policy which takes human rights issues in Saudi Arabia into account then there will be few football clubs who give a toss about it. UTG!

They might pay a million a week but one thing a young free single top level player won’t get in Saudi…
The desires of young attractive females, best way I can put it😄

No not worried, the players that go there are either those way past their best looking for a last big pay day or those who can't cut it at elite level and have a chance to make money and secure their futures.

Why anyone would want to go to a stone age, fascist dump like that is beyond me. Qatar was bad enough, but SA is near the top of the list of backward countries, along with Kuwait which I had the misfortune to visit with work last year.

I can think of several million reasons though💰 Morals go out the window when copious amount of moneys involved. Just look at Jordan Henderson. Vocally supporting LBGTQ groups for years. Yet has just packed his bags to move to a country where being every single letter in the groups he was supposedly supporting is illegal just to get even more wealthy than he already is.

More rancid hypocrisy from a multi millionaire. Just like watching Prime Minister's questions.

The thing that worries me about this, is that every time the Premier league clubs get squeezed, they pass it on the the teams below them by wanting more of the cake available.
All a bit worrying IMHO.

No fan of the Saudi regime obviously, but the prem kinda deserves this. This ridiculous bubble was going to burst eventually (£60m for Mount, the wages!) just hope it doesnt take the rest of the leagues down with them. Need a re-set before it is too late.

Without the Premier League the Saudi situation would not occur. It's all part of the same eco system.

So a comment is made about “no players in their prime or at elite level” going there, and yet an elite World-class midfielder of 26 years old that’s been playing top flight football in England for the last 5 seasons (another 1 year getting Wolves promoted as Champions from the Championship) and previously played for Porto isn’t someone they are aware of? A player that started over Ronaldo in the Morocco game at the recent World Cup? Played in every Portugal match at the World Cup? I’d respectfully suggest that if Neves is somebody that has never been heard of then discussing who elite players are probably isn’t the thread for him. The guy played over 200 games and scored 27 goals over here as a defensive midfielder and yet he’d never spotted him on the highlights? Definitely not the right thread to raise his knowledge of elite level footballers in their prime then for me.
