He shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting XI, let alone captain, if we’ve got any desires of a decent season. Way out of his depth in L1 as shown by his ‘contribution’ last season. I’d be disappointed if he was a mainstay of the team this season. Definite upgrade required in this area.

I like Finley. Strong character and a very good player at his best. After his injury last season he was off the pace. Fingers crossed that with a full pre-season he’s now back to the player we know and love.

Presumably, Jimmy Wilson will be vice captain? Agree with oldie, Sam needs to try and temper his aggression in a positive way. Maybe a quick spliff in the warm up will help. |

His form was way off towards the end of last season. A mixture of injuries and ill discipline really affected his form and he went missing over the last 8-10 games. However he’s looked fresh, fit and back to it in preseason so let’s see how he gets on. |

Good choice. Since coming in, he has shown the passion and pride I want to see from a captain. Every game he gives 100%.

He had injury issues last season, and we also changed our playing style to being more containing and less attacking. I don't think that this suited his natural game, but he still earned his place in most games in my opinion. |

Wilson by a mile. Surprised Finlay is in the mix to start let alone captain the side based on the 2nd half of last season.

Being club captain does not mean you have to play every game, the off pitch attitude that we don't see is just as important.

We used to separate the team and club captain roles, club captain being an older hand for younger players and a conduit for players to managers. I recall Geoff Twentyman being the club captain while Vaughan Jones was team captain on the pitch. |
