I dont think there will be any rush for that Pirate, Rovers Academy are now training out of Wise academy in Filton (ish). They already have an indoor facility and a great standard of Grass Pitches. The Teds Academy had been Based there for the last 8 years but have now moved to the HPC and they had Category 2 whilst training and playing there Games programme there, so there should be no issue with us not getting through on the basis of Facilities and standard of Pitches. So you are suggesting that this potential attachment has nothing to do with facilities at the Quarters? Who knew? 😂😂 Isn’t the whole point to have the academy at the quarters , all under one roof sort of thing ? |

I think in an ideal world you will get the u18's and 21's side there but there is no way you will get 100 or so Kids up there every night on a school night and be playing in effect 3-4 games on a Sunday morning through the age groups at the quarters. So no i don't think you will ever see the whole academy there, certainly not in the next 5 years. But the older age group maybe, but there association with the Wise means they have a ready made Cat 2 facility and all they have to do is now make sure the coaching and staff are all in place in time for the Audit.

Not sure how much land there is at the quarters and if it’s viable to have those extra pitches The original rugby plans had 4 pitches just in the top part. The area is about 29 acres from memory, we've added the lake and the last shown Phase 2 plans had one all weather pitch covering where the other two rugby pitches were. I'd say 5 may be tight, but if we are looking at rejigging Phase 2 and follow on phases, it may be they decide otherwise. Womble did some good designs of his own, maybe he could suggest something. |

The old adage was one acre = one football pitch. 29 acres is loads of room on that basis.
The problem once again is Planning Permission! Not so many properties around The Quarters but much wealthier bunch of NIMBYS.
It will take time, a lot of time but ultimately the position of The Quarters right on the motorway may prove to be a fantastic location. UTG!

Besides competing in the South East counties league Rovers youths also played in the Midland Intermediate League against clubs such as Nottingham Forest West Bromwich Albion & Hereford United etc
Thst would have been late 70s or early 1980s

The Academy is leasing South Gloucestershire College's WISE facilities I am led to believe. the academy sides are in various locations. lockleaze, WISE, quarters. Could be a 1/2 more. But the more at the quarters the better. To be fair to the residents of the almondsbury, they’ve been quite supportive I believe. Of course you’ll get a few that aren’t happy, especially ones that aren’t mad about football and now constantly have new footballs landing into their garden beds on a regular basis. But I’d like to think we won’t see much push back for the residents on expanding further. |

As I Said earlier in this thread, As of Last year Those who should remain nameless the other side of the River had all their age groups and games programme out of Wise in a cat 2 status for the last 8 years. Before that Bristol Rovers academy used to train there before The Teds wanted it and it went to sealed bids. Then Money talked and we were out on our arse. But the long and short of it is we Bristol Rovers Academy can Run a Cat 2 Academy out of Wise as all the components are in place + only a couple of miles from the Mem so it all makes sense. |

I wouldn't know but I am, personally, unaware of detailed plans which are costed and funding provision accounted for? There may be, but other than chit chat I have not heard of anything concrete.
