50 years ago we went on a run from the start of the season in Division 3 that went on and on. Losing our unbeaten sequence at Wrexham. Around February time. Leeds UTD were on a similar run at Div 1 level and lost theirs shortly afterwards. I sense another run similar to 73/74. I was on the bus to most matches that season. The new bus is even more exciting. UTG We did tbone. My favourite season ever. Like you I did loads of games that season home and away. We started at Bournemouth and I was there. In the first half we were lucky to go in 0-0. Bournemouth hit the bar and post and we should have been behind but in the second half scored 3. It could have been very different but we never looked back after that match. We then returned to Bournemouth to lose 1-0 3 days later in the League Cup before winning against Charlton on Saturday. I knew then that we’d go up. We were really strong and in a different world then we didn’t rotate and used the same eleven for most of that season. Very few changes. Don Megson knew his best team and played it. At the moment JB doesn’t know his best team so let’s hope he doesn’t take too long deciding what it is. In 73/74 we were a true team with a few good individuals. Seems now we have quite a few very good individuals but I’m not sure we have a team…..yet. UTG!

I was very suprised that JB played all the older defenders last weekend. When we signed them I said they are good players to have if you don't play them all at once. Need to mix it up a bit and play some of the younger wing backs to creatre more pace, creativity and hopefull goals.

This start of season feels so very different, doesn't it? A renewed sense of purpose is running through Bristol Rovers. I can certainly feel it as well in the positive vibes from many on gas chat. The prospect of glory, promotion and possibly champions is certainly worth thinking about. Our squad, strengthened seemingly every week, have returned to the training pitch with a fire in their bellies that's unmistakable as seen in our recent performances. Joey Barton's passion is infectious and clearly attracts top players. We can be confident about the future. There's an aura of determination and unity around this club that's the hallmark of any footballing success. A winning culture is being forged, and for those of us who've stood by Rovers through thick and thin, this feeling is as precious as silverware. The whispers of hope are growing louder, not only within the stands but within gaschat. Our Dreams, long held in check, are converging with the reality of what our club can achieve. No longer looking down but looking up to the future. Joey Barton has nurtured a spirit that is seen in of champions, and our style of play is imbued with the same energy, the same hunger that defined the great teams of yesteryears. This season, the road to promotion is in front of us. The bus is here, as it has been since 2011, ever hopeful, waiting for us to climb aboard and carve our name in the annals of Bristol Rovers football history. For me, I am daring to dream of the unattainable - To be Champions - the ground-breaking goal. Like everyone, I’ll take promotion in anyway. With the right mindset and the talent in our squad anything is possible. The bus is ready to ride again. Whoops.

Hope at the start of the season is always high within many clubs. I enjoyed writing that piece. Thanks for taking the time to locate and bump.
I’m sorry the enthusiastic post has offended. We might still surprise. Plenty of season left. Plenty of players to return from injury.
Clearly work to do. I’ve certainly not given up hope. Only seven points from the play offs.

I think we were all 'cautiously optimistic' at the start of the season. Who wouldn't be after what some said was the best squad ever. The bump is a bit playground "I told you so so" which doesn't help anyone. We are all in this together haters and lovers alike, we want to see good exciting football and winning games.

We have a game in hand against the Devon Hamlet..Win that and we're 11th. It's October, not May. 🏴☠️

Faustus is right ,win the game in hand and we sit 1/2 way, yes i know it's if but its still early days. Would folk rather us do a Cambridge and be top after 3 or 4 games then drop like a stone? Nowt wrong with the original post ,well done Rich Hertford, don't really understand why folk need to troll through historic post's in order to ridicule same, i am sure we have all posted articles which have not'aged'well, but they are not deliberate 'lies' or delibately misleading, just our thoughts at the time, to quote Kevin Keegan ' i would love it' if come May Richhertford had to turn folk away because the bus was full up! as for me well if we finish strong top 10 it will represent good progress.
