This start of season feels so very different, doesn't it?
A renewed sense of purpose is running through Bristol Rovers. I can certainly feel it as well in the positive vibes from many on gas chat. The prospect of glory, promotion and possibly champions is certainly worth thinking about.
Our squad, strengthened seemingly every week, have returned to the training pitch with a fire in their bellies that's unmistakable as seen in our recent performances.
Joey Barton's passion is infectious and clearly attracts top players. We can be confident about the future. There's an aura of determination and unity around this club that's the hallmark of any footballing success.
A winning culture is being forged, and for those of us who've stood by Rovers through thick and thin, this feeling is as precious as silverware.
The whispers of hope are growing louder, not only within the stands but within gaschat. Our Dreams, long held in check, are converging with the reality of what our club can achieve. No longer looking down but looking up to the future.
Joey Barton has nurtured a spirit that is seen in of champions, and our style of play is imbued with the same energy, the same hunger that defined the great teams of yesteryears.
This season, the road to promotion is in front of us. The bus is here, as it has been since 2011, ever hopeful, waiting for us to climb aboard and carve our name in the annals of Bristol Rovers football history.
For me, I am daring to dream of the unattainable - To be Champions - the ground-breaking goal. Like everyone, I’ll take promotion in anyway.
With the right mindset and the talent in our squad anything is possible.
The bus is ready to ride again.

I love your optimism. I think things will need to gel really quickly for us to be considered title contenders….but who knows? We’ve been building something good for a couple of seasons now so with a couple of wins and a good little run, anything could happen!
I’m buckling myself up for the ride….

I thought we already had a ground breaking thread do we really need another one? That’s the poll. This is slightly different focused on championship.🏆

50 years ago we went on a run from the start of the season in Division 3 that went on and on. Losing our unbeaten sequence at Wrexham. Around February time. Leeds UTD were on a similar run at Div 1 level and lost theirs shortly afterwards. I sense another run similar to 73/74. I was on the bus to most matches that season. The new bus is even more exciting. UTG

However, all this positivity at our club feels very strange, and not at all like the one I'm used to supporting. There's barely been a dissenting word on any thread. A number of negative posters have been very quiet recently, and long may it continue! U T G.

I suppose there'll be standing room only by next Easter? I'm thinking of making a trip back. And also the thought just popped into my head that if we're going for promotion I might just quit my job and stay for a while.

With the right mindset and the talent in our squad anything is possible. The bus is ready to ride again. Like you Rich I was optimistic before the season began, that optimism vanished completely yesterday. Mid table at best I fear this season.
Slow, ponderous football against a side that came to ran down the clock, roll about on the floor and snatch one on the counter.
Finley a lost lamb, Collins woeful, Crama should've done a lot better for the second. Not convinced by Cox either.
We don't have an answer to sides that let us have the ball, all good letting the likes of pompey and charlton have it and snatch one of our own.
But that tactic won't work all of the time and we'll just be frustrated by these smaller clubs coming to our ground every week and digging in.
We've gambled heavily to give Barton this squad, even more if we shell out for JCH. If we're lower mid table by November and we're still making these basic tactical mistakes then I want him gone.
I listened to his pre match interview and it made me feel embarrassed quite frankly, blaming it on the sprinklers, blaming it on the Ref.
Joey you've had over 12 months in this division now, if we're not streetwise enough to the teams we're facing then why not? Who's to blame for that.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant, I have backed our manager against the Joey haters up until now, but yesterday made me question whether he's got the tactical ability to elavate this group of players.

For me this is a big season for JB to prove himself in this division ,17th last season was just about acceptable but since new year results have been awful. I've always said if he loses one against teams playing anti football at least he's taking the expierence on board to better himself ,but is he? Is he learning from his mistakes? Lets see what he can do after August because we blatantly need a striker like JCH . IF we get him I think JB should have the squad he wants ,and I hope he suceeds . As for the blaming bollox , that's just JB ,as with 99.9% of the managers ...we dont mind it if were top of the league but just lost one....I'm keeping faith and may have a different opinion 10 games in.

Think it understandable newbie hollowayfrancis is having some doubts, so many changes and options i would imagine JB and staff are having trouble deciding on their best 11 .Think it will take a few more games and some will get frustrated as results continue to be inconsistent. i have to believe JB will get it right by Christmas ready for our run to the play offs,! hope he isn't to entrenched in his ideas not to see when something isn't working else stubbornness could ultimately cost him his job, hope he learns from these setbacks.

Hasn't aged to well already this thread.Like the op I was a bit overoptomistic too and after the last couple of games I've come back to reality. I think we have the squad now bar a goalscorer and by this time next week Joey will know what he has to work with. We're still only 7 points off the top and no clubs are setting the league on fire, another few games in and we'll see who's really doing what. My biggest concern is Joey doesn't appear to have a plan b when we can't break teams down like Cambridge and Wycombe. Lincoln going by last season will be tricky as well. Hopefully the more experienced lads like Wilson and Woods can help change that on the pitch. Another few weeks and we'll have a better idea how we'll do.

I remain upbeat. It’s not even September yet. Luckily the dressing room will know that one victory and we will be just outside playoffs. As we know, I’m hardly ever pessimistic. The dream is still on. This might just be a blip in our form as new player bed into the squad. JCH will help.

JB and the team booed off at half time. We were promoted. We’ve had worse starts!
