Hope at the start of the season is always high within many clubs. I enjoyed writing that piece. Thanks for taking the time to locate and bump. I’m sorry the enthusiastic post has offended. We might still surprise. Plenty of season left. Plenty of players to return from injury. Clearly work to do. I’ve certainly not given up hope. Only seven points from the play offs. I think we were all 'cautiously optimistic' at the start of the season. Who wouldn't be after what some said was the best squad ever. The bump is a bit playground "I told you so so" which doesn't help anyone. We are all in this together haters and lovers alike, we want to see good exciting football and winning games. Thanks so much for this. I agree with all of it.

Tonight I am watching Newcastle vs Dortmond. Rovers play in a similar way with the same patterns of play. I accept it’s a different standard. When all our players are fit be ready for one hell of a run after Christmas. I’m remaining hopeful.

Perhaps that's the issue Rovers are playing L1 opponents not Champion League sides, I can't understand why JB decided in the summer we were going to change the way we played, although last night when chasing a goal in the second half Cox just hoofed the ball up field at every opportunity.

Cambridge, Lincoln, Burton and last night were not good to watch. AND we are never going to have a fully fit squad with these players, too many with a poor injury record to expect them all to be fit at the same time (throw in a few more suspensions as well), we couldn't even start the season with everyone fit after a pre-season break. We may steamroller someone but that is not good enough, we need to be winning week in and week out to get out of this league. The last time we got out of this league (Thanks Gerry) we only lost 5 games all season, we have lost 5 already with just over a quarter of the games gone. I will now be grateful if we can just have a reasonable season without any relegation anxiety, which I am not sure we are going to have.

Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough failed to pick up a win in their first seven league games this season, sitting bottom of the Championship.
His side have just registered their sixth consecutive victory to place themselves 7th in the table, now level on points with the play-off places.

Rich, I love your optimism mate and how positive you are and for the record as well, I was predicting a proper push this season and expectant for a 6th place finish.
Personally I don’t think the Boro or Newcastle are examples are great and nothing to base us on. Newcastle mix up their game, 9 goals the other week at Shef United, I saw some of last night, they don’t play like this all the time. Last 6 Dortmund games, 4 clean sheets, we rarely keep these………as for Boro, correct re results but last season Carrick finished them incredibly well in the play offs where as our form is an even worse version of last season, 2023 calendar year has been a disaster!
Keep the faith Rich, all buses need repairs, I think we will get a new engine soon, we need one and the bus will be back on the road, I don’t trust it at the moment without breaking down!

Yep and it would have been so easy for Boro to sack Carrick at that stage but deep down most fans knew Boro were in a false position and they would rise up the table, some of us have that feeling re Rovers.

Carrick had and had credit in the bank, do you see a 4 game winning game coming on let alone 6 with this manager in charge factoring in last season as well? Where do you get this feeling from, what is is based on?

No doubting we’ve got some quality players & probably a bigger & better squad than a lot of sides in this division, but that doesn’t always guarantee anything if the side is constantly being changed to a growing injury list & unnecessary sending offs. Oxford fans, who’s team are flying this season we’re saying Rovers we’re the best team they’ve played this season when we played them, so perhaps there is hope that results will improve & we can start climbing the table, if we can get a settled side. Does Barton know what his best starting 11 is, I don’t think so, but again he can only pick players who are available, but going back to the Stevenage game the other night,Harvey Vale is too good a player not to be included from the start ,if he’s played in his right position.

And with Coburn starting up front when some on here didn’t think he was good enough for us and didn’t want him to come back again!!

This start of season feels so very different, doesn't it? A renewed sense of purpose is running through Bristol Rovers. I can certainly feel it as well in the positive vibes from many on gas chat. The prospect of glory, promotion and possibly champions is certainly worth thinking about. Our squad, strengthened seemingly every week, have returned to the training pitch with a fire in their bellies that's unmistakable as seen in our recent performances. Joey Barton's passion is infectious and clearly attracts top players. We can be confident about the future. There's an aura of determination and unity around this club that's the hallmark of any footballing success. A winning culture is being forged, and for those of us who've stood by Rovers through thick and thin, this feeling is as precious as silverware. The whispers of hope are growing louder, not only within the stands but within gaschat. Our Dreams, long held in check, are converging with the reality of what our club can achieve. No longer looking down but looking up to the future. Joey Barton has nurtured a spirit that is seen in of champions, and our style of play is imbued with the same energy, the same hunger that defined the great teams of yesteryears. This season, the road to promotion is in front of us. The bus is here, as it has been since 2011, ever hopeful, waiting for us to climb aboard and carve our name in the annals of Bristol Rovers football history. For me, I am daring to dream of the unattainable - To be Champions - the ground-breaking goal. Like everyone, I’ll take promotion in anyway. With the right mindset and the talent in our squad anything is possible. The bus is ready to ride again. You'll need to edit a few paragraphs.

Like so many I felt so optimistic at the start of this season. It’s not turned out the way so many felt. The results were not good enough and now we close this door of our history with Joey and look forward to a new chapter. Joey will be remembered for the incredible final-day promotion to League One in 2022. Some great results prior to the incredible 7-0 victory over Scunthorpe. That was some season. Ultimately, he fell short and paid the price. Over the next few days we will know more about the background to this sacking. The club have been decisive. I remain optimistic about this season and look forward to the next chapter. Time to get behind the club and look upwards.

The last time we scored seven we were promoted. 😂❤️
Whatever decisions are taken over the next few weeks it’s important not to forget our ambitions. Our season is far from over and so something special might still happen.
I’m delighted that our club have leadership that is aiming high and make decisions when we fall short.
Loved the performance yesterday. The next few weeks will sure be interesting and to be honest, I can’t wait for Tuesday, where I expect to see more progress.
This is the time to aim high whoever gets the job to make that happen.
As you would expect, like many of our fans, I’m pretty excited about what the future will bring.
So excited, I’m off to Carlisle next Saturday.

Never one to hide away from bumping a thread. 😂But here we are, fresh from a super performance and believing in better. Can we make the play offs? A target worth aiming for and why not.
Bring it on. Never been more hopeful.
