Believe the miles caught up with the players today. I'll let them off that shocker.
Thought Bogarde, Thomas and Sinclair did well

One of the best Squads in living memory and we "perform" like that - scratches head with bewilderment.

Cambridge are now top, there’s been far too much disrespect towards them. They were much better than us today. That was a big reality check for us. Too many assuming we were suddenly a top six team. Went into panic mode at 1-0 down and started pumping long balls to nobody. Cambridge have been non league most of my life and we’ve had loads of money spent. The game alone, Cox didn’t have a single save of note to make. They were hard working but lacked any kind of real quality, we weren’t beaten by a decent side today. Far from it, that’s the most annoying part aside from our own Sunday league showing.

Ha ha ha - we just recorded our first loss out of 4 games - 4 f**king games - and already pearls are being tightly clutched, tears are being shed into recycled paper cups of alcohol-free, sugar-free, happiness-free plant-based fake beer, hair is being pulled out, ashes are being thrown over sackcloths, and the whips are being readied for an extended bout of self-flagellation. We lost to a side that actually weren’t better than us, but who had a game plan designed to nullify our attacking threats; and we simply didn’t adapt and overcome. Sh*t happens. On to the next game. Oh thanks for that ‘totender’ made me chuckle 🤭 spot on ! 👍💙utg

I haven't seen the game or heard sny reports but looking at some of the comments it doesn't look as if we've turned up today. What I would say is that we weren't champions elect after the first 3 games and we aren't now useless after today. 4 games in certainly plenty to work on and hopefully a statement signing to come. 1 bad performance, no reason to panic and write people off We lost the tactical battle and didn't know how to change it. Having said that, at 0-0, Azza was one on one with the keeper, Collins of 2022 would have slotted it home and I am sure we would have then won the game

The one bit I really can't understand is that Barton said exactly how Cambridge like to play in the build up interview and yet we seemed completely unprepared for it. Sometimes the players have to experience it to fully understand and learn from it. Barton can't play the game for them. The players are better than they showed today and I think over the season will win a lot more than we lose

The reality check we probably needed. think it is going to take a while for us to settle on our first 11, folk see it's Cambridge and think 'easier', But they could well turn out to be contenders , disappointing performance but not a surprise, on we go , these things happen from time to time but they do not happen often to title challengers. You mean you expected a performance like that?

Dross is the only word to describe that performance. In spite of what some say Cambridge were better than us. Our tippy tappy play at the back is no good whatsoever unless you combine it with pace down the sides and through the channels. We had no one capable of doing this apart from Thomas in the first half . Enough said about Collins, Evans and Finley, they were equally as bad as one another. Finley seemed to blame everything on the ref and was in his ear all game. We were found out today with no plan b, that has to change asap with the likes of teams like Wycombe, Shrewsbury etc on the horizon, who without a doubt will play the same way that Cambridge did today.

So we got found out today… JB had no Plan A or Plan B or C - just telling the team to hoof it forward.
Cambridge had a plan , stuck to it , put in a real shift and just about deserved the win.
Cox - 5 - was tidy enough - thought he should have got to the through ball at the end when he seemed to hesitate.
Gordon - 4 - Not adventurous enough and slowed play down too much
Crama - 6 - tidy enough
Hoole - 5 Average performance
Taylor - 4 - Ok in the air absolutely woeful distribution on the ground
Finley - 4 - needs dropping now - neither L1 standard or a Captain
Evans - 4 - Back to last seasons frustrating level
Ward - 6- Fouled for their first goal and kicked all game
Thomas -6- Excellent defensively not so going forward
Marquis - 5- runs around draws fouks - can’t score.
Collins -4 - Criminal 1 on 1 miss that changed the game.
No subs improved us … all marked at 5
Hoping that some of the new additions now get to start against Wycombe - along with Wilson / Brown I could see at least four changes and maybe a fifth if we get a striker in. Hard for many who started today to claim the shirt for next week.
Ref team - 6 - Ok
Joe Barton -3 - Poor team selection / poor tactics and no idea how to change things .
Travelling support -8- deserved way better.

The players are better than they showed today and I think over the season will win a lot more than we lose a more experienced back line would have adapted to their tactics. Constant short passes from taylor and crama to finley and ward who were double marked and slowed the game. Keeper should have just bypassed and kicked to the corners to try and build pressure

What's encouraging you still have Friend,Hunt,Wilson,Brown and the forgotten man Rossiter to come in.

If Marquis was good enough he would have kept Coburn out of the side last season.

What's encouraging you still have Friend,Hunt,Wilson,Brown and the forgotten man Rossiter to come in. I dont even need the encouragement. We have an amazing squad and a great culture building, today we had a mare, it happens. We’ll bounce back and kick on. The fact those four players are going to be coming back into the picture is actually a bit crazy, it’s going to be a great season. … but even if it is, we’re gonna have some crap days and performances. It happens.

Careful...but my thoughts exactly Oldie with respect have you ever come on with a positive under Barton’s reign ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I was at the Charlton game nobody could moan about that performance But I guess when you loathe someone as much as you loathe Barton - you are totally blinded to any positives, if I have missed any POSITIVE remark I apologise UTG

Top of the league this evening though. The league is still settling into its rhythm. Let’s reconvene at Xmas, I reckon we will be above Cambridge.

You can definitely see the inexperience showing in our defence at times.
