My impression, especially after some of the worst performances last season, is that we need to do a lot of training trying to break down teams who are happy to surrender possession.

We gave a really poor performance today and just seemed so lethargic and ponderous without knowing how to break through a low block team who set up to defend deep and catch us on the counter…. But for all those people saying it’s embarrassing losing to Cambridge and the like - they are top of the league after today and had won 2 of their previous 3 league games with their midweek loss looking like a blip…. We shouldn’t act so entitled

Careful...but my thoughts exactly Oldie with respect have you ever come on with a positive under Barton’s reign ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I was at the Charlton game nobody could moan about that performance But I guess when you loathe someone as much as you loathe Barton - you are totally blinded to any positives, if I have missed any POSITIVE remark I apologise UTG I was agreeing with Wilkimania...is that not allowed

All this talk about great squad makes me think 9f the team G Francis took to play off then top of the league. Not a very good set of individuals but a clear role for each player and the team.
A bit like Cambridge today, well coached in all they did.
Let's see how we go next week.

Very poor today, Azza and Evo look off it, Finley needs a rest too ponderous, for all his enthusiasm and endeavour big John needs a break too.
Wilson and Brown are massive players, need them back soon.
This squad will need some managing, as so many options.
Decent start dust ourselves down and onto Wyscum.

Dust ourselves down. Go again.
5 points right now is still more than I expected when the fixture list came out.

I do not believe I am blinded by an "intense dislike", generally I only react to what he says or does. More recently I have praised the squad he has built as the best, on paper at least, I have witnessed in years. But equally during the past few months(and prior) there are things that would not pass in a professionally run organisation, the lack of professionalism personified in the South Stand farce. I hope that Barton "shoves it" and is able to organise this talented squad of players into a team that takes us to the Championship. That is my hope. Let's see. In the interim I reserve the right to comment on individual games just like everyone else.

This may well be tempting fate, but I can't see us losing a league game this or next month. (Including Wigan, Reading and Peterborough). Tonight's lottery numbers are: 61, 62, 63, 64 and 1 UTFG 🏴☠️🍷🇪🇸

Really poor.
We either didn't have a clue how to play against a side like Cambridge, or we couldn't execute the game plan. I'm not sure which is more worrying.
The couple of chances we had were both fortunate and not the result of nice play.
Hard not to be deflated after watching that. Need to work out a better way to play against sides that sit in because we rarely troubled Cambridge and they'll be plenty of other teams that play the same way.

Pretty fair summing up by JB, admitted we did not have a plan to deal with their set up and work to do on Training ground, think JB is still learning and will learn from todays game, we need to be able to adapt to other teams set up even if that means doing so during a game, they obviously did their homework on us and it seems were very well prepared for the game ,as JB said ,credit to them.

This one game doesn’t define our season, I’ve developed a lot of belief in this squad and this one game hasn’t changed it one bit, bring on the next game! Utg

We did not deserve anything from today and fair play to cambridge they played well, but if AC had taken his two one on one chances so far this season ( today & Barnsley) we would tonight be top of the league on 10 pts. Small margins.

We struggled last season against teams that sat back but played much better against the better teams. I suppose an element is the players raise their game for the big games but also that they leave more space for us to exploit. We have some creative players and should be able to break teams down when they sit back. This was our undoing a lot last season. I’m sure they’ll sort it out, we have a much better squad this year.

Basically, we don’t know what to do against Stabdard L1 teams who are organised and can get 10-15 crosses in per game.
