Aaron CDidn'tollins might well be highly thought of at the club but surely even he is up for being dropped if this carries on. Didn't Joey say there are no favorites?

Keep Collins, get rid of Barton, problem solved. No idea how to change tactics.

Keep Collins, get rid of Barton, problem solved. No idea how to change tactics. What nonsense. It was one game. How many times has the manager made vital substitutions and/or tactical changes that led us to winning? Loads.

This may well be tempting fate, but I can't see us losing a league game this or next month. (Including Wigan, Reading and Peterborough). Regrets now or just normal quote for you. Find fault in everyone else though. Up The Pirates.

Just home back from my weekend with my boy.
A few thoughts from the trip….
It all started so well. We chased the club coach into the car park and my boy got lovely photos with almost all the players and JB himself. Nice touch, JB had a chat with us and thanked us for travelling up.
Then into the clubhouse, met and chatted to a few home fans, really nice bunch, honest, proper football fans.
Lovely day, sun out, gas in good numbers.
And then it got spoilt by the football!!
I really don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a game quite like yesterday, it looked like the players had all been spiked with an overdose of Valium. Taylor sometimes had the ball at his feet for 30 seconds or so, he shuffled it around, and either passed it to Cramer or whacked it diagonally into touch.
Cambridge just stood off, defended in numbers, and if we tried to play it into the middle they swarmed us and we generally lost possession.
It was so frustrating as we just had no idea how to change tactics, and Collins was wasted out wide (was a game he needed to be running through the middle at 2 very average and slow centre backs?)
The ONLY bright spark for me was Luke Thomas, who at least looked like he had avoided the apathy pills and tried to make things happen.
Bogarde did more in 8 minutes than Finley in 82
I can only hope that this was a blip and lessons will be learned, we can’t just turn up and waltz around like we are Barcelona in this division. It takes guile and grit and speed and bravery. We had none of that yesterday.
I’m not one for throwing toys, had a great weekend, and contrary to the chants, Cambridge is not a s##thole, but a culturally enriching place.
One thing is for sure, we need a CF to come in soon. We won’t reach the play offs with Marquis and Loft
Nothing to panic about yet, very open division this one, but lessons to learn from for JB and his team. We aren’t as good (yet) as we perhaps thought we were!

I see most people on fb etc are going into Meltdown however' its better to learn from this now rather than later. We go into a game with a plan A, but maybe plan B &C will be beneficial in the future. I'm not distraught over this defeat as I feel its a lesson learned and something that we can only improve on. It's only 4 games in and mistakes will sometimes be made from the team and the Manager/Coach.......... Keep the faith and up the gas! Makes it less crushing when City lose at home 😉 You’re absolutely right, we had no plan B, which is criminal really, because plan A isn’t going to work every game. I couldn’t make yesterdays match, but watching on ifollow highlighted how our tactics were easily subdued. We’ve definitely changed how we play this season. Our main game plan sees us hitting long diags to the 2 wingers and playing off them, whilst keeping a solid back 4 line and 2 holding midfielders in. Basically giving our front 4 a bit of free reign. Our fullbacks rarely venture on for an overlap, as we try to isolate our wingers against their fullbacks. Our 2 fullbacks usually only venture forward when a diagonal is hit from the opposite side where they’ll go inside to maybe get a knockdown, other than that it’s quite simple and yesterday Cambridge proved by sitting in that it can be defended against. But we have no plan B to go to and as the game wore on we looked worse and more desperate. I think that as we stand with our main tactics and within the current squad we have enough in those holding midfield roles or across the back 4 (although I think Hunt is an necessary addition, but time will tell). However I do think we need more of a focal point / goal scorer and I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re in for someone there before the window closes and maybe even another option to play one of wing positions in addition to Collins, Thomas and Sinclair.

I've just watched the highlights having not been at the game or watching on ifollow..
In terms of chances made it seems like we just about edged it. Doesn't chime at all with the comments I was reading on here during the game (which I fully believe!)
Could we have won this or got a point despite playing as bad as we did? They boxed us in, but Collins finishing his chance and the game would have been very different.

Yes if Collins scores that then Cambridge have to be more adventurous which would have suited us a lot more. Fine margins. We have to be more clinical as we have missed so many gilt-edged chances already

I feel like taking chances you’re already creating is an easier fix and can hopefully be solved with a new recruit up top, Brown’s return + increased confidence in Collins, Marquis etc. in front of goal. Last season creating decent chances felt like pulling teeth at time. I don’t see us having the same issue this season based on the early evidence - we just need to be more clinical!

Sam Finley gave a honest interview after the game on Twitter just not up to standard saying with the squad we have we need to beat the so called smaller clubs in our division mind you I have followed the gas for many years we seem to play well against the bigger clubs and fall down against the rest Since when have Rovers become a big club in L1, no wonder we keep on losing to all the smaller club's if the captain now thinks we're a big L1 club. Just listened to Finley's interview and he never suggested that Cambridge were a small club, all he said was they were the type of club they needed to be beating if they were going to have a successful season.

Totally agree, its good we are creating chances the worry is when we dont have any. This season we seem to be more purposeful with passing the ball about. Last season we just seemed to pass it around at the back for the sake of it and made very little progress from it. Saturday we fell back into that way of playing a bit, but we have to have another strategy for teams who lay down the gauntlet for us to break them down
