We were up against a side who did their home work on our style of play and we got found out, hopefully we can adapt our game a lot better going forward to this type of game plan.
First half was so poor the fans around me sat down, I haven't seen that happen very often!

I see most people on fb etc are going into Meltdown however' its better to learn from this now rather than later. We go into a game with a plan A, but maybe plan B &C will be beneficial in the future.
I'm not distraught over this defeat as I feel its a lesson learned and something that we can only improve on. It's only 4 games in and mistakes will sometimes be made from the team and the Manager/Coach..........
Keep the faith and up the gas!
Makes it less crushing when City lose at home đ

Ha ha ha - we just recorded our first loss out of 4 games - 4 f**king games - and already pearls are being tightly clutched, tears are being shed into recycled paper cups of alcohol-free, sugar-free, happiness-free plant-based fake beer, hair is being pulled out, ashes are being thrown over sackcloths, and the whips are being readied for an extended bout of self-flagellation. We lost to a side that actually werenât better than us, but who had a game plan designed to nullify our attacking threats; and we simply didnât adapt and overcome. Sh*t happens. On to the next game. Easily said if youâre sat at home What the f*ck is that supposed to mean?

Play like that against anyone and you lose. Has nothing to do with their tactics, they made it easy for us by allowing us to play, problem was we couldnât actually play. Finely, collins, marquis that old guard need taking out the team

Sam Finley gave a honest interview after the game on Twitter just not up to standard saying with the squad we have we need to beat the so called smaller clubs in our division mind you I have followed the gas for many years we seem to play well against the bigger clubs and fall down against the rest

I knew it would be a difficult game and said so a couple of days ago. Admittedly I thought we'd scrape a draw. Calling Cambridge a small club misses the point that they are a useful side at the moment.
Still, just one setback and still doing ok so far overall, 5 minutes into the season.

I was thinking after a draw at promotion favourites Pompey and a decent point against Barnsley followed by a win snatched at much fancied Charlton we were on our way. Only to see Charlton just as easily beaten by PortVale next game and Barnsley beaten by everyone bar us and Port Vale. This is early season stuff when anyone can beat anyone itâs absolutely no indication of how things will look come the end. At least it stops us getting carried away a reality check maybe, only time will tell.

It was a horrible game to watch.
The consumate away win for Cambridge, who defended resolutely in front of a packed abbey stadium.

Bring on a couple of home games! 4/5 of our games have been away this season and apart from yesterday weâve all been pretty happy.
A tough lesson learnt, Cambridge wonât be the only team to play like that (well organised, disrupting your flow) and we need to learn to adapt our game.
A week off now is good timing before coming back to the Mem against Wycombe

Well that was a reality check if ever needed ,don't think the tight schedule had anything to do with it neither ,we would've lost this with a week's gap . As been said ,JB didn't combat the U's style ,but the important thing is he learns from it ,other league one sides and of course the reverse fixture! That Collins effort would,ve been buried by a JCH or Jevani ,still would've lost mind! Realy impressed by Bogarde be it the last 10 ,but not too downbeat ....4 games in and confident of a good season UTG

Exactly. I imagine a lot of clubs in League One see us as a small club, especially with our recent history of yo-yoing between Leagues One and Two.

Agree with you here ,although we're by no means small ,we are not labelled big like Pompey , the Rams ,Bolton etc . Finlays comment smacks of arrogance , just keep the "we need to beat thing "quiet! Cambridge did a job on us ,and yes they are smaller ,but Finleys comment only fires these so called smaller clubs up to do us over.....

This was an awful performance from Rovers and one that will hopefully be very rare. Arron Collins is right off the boil and persisting with Ryan Loft who is largely ineffective is annoying!

So we got found out today⌠JB had no Plan A or Plan B or C - just telling the team to hoof it forward. Cambridge had a plan , stuck to it , put in a real shift and just about deserved the win. Cox - 5 - was tidy enough - thought he should have got to the through ball at the end when he seemed to hesitate. Gordon - 4 - Not adventurous enough and slowed play down too much Crama - 6 - tidy enough Hoole - 5 Average performance Taylor - 4 - Ok in the air absolutely woeful distribution on the ground Finley - 4 - needs dropping now - neither L1 standard or a Captain Evans - 4 - Back to last seasons frustrating level Ward - 6- Fouled for their first goal and kicked all game Thomas -6- Excellent defensively not so going forward Marquis - 5- runs around draws fouks - canât score. Collins -4 - Criminal 1 on 1 miss that changed the game. No subs improved us ⌠all marked at 5 Hoping that some of the new additions now get to start against Wycombe - along with Wilson / Brown I could see at least four changes and maybe a fifth if we get a striker in. Hard for many who started today to claim the shirt for next week. Ref team - 6 - Ok . Joe Barton -3 - Poor team selection / poor tactics and no idea how to change things . Travelling support -8- deserved way better. Bang on assessment, Finley is a liability, but hopefully Bogarde will slot in. Collins miss identical ones against Barnsley and Charlton and others, easier the chance more likely he fluffs his lines. 1-0 down and two centre halves who want to knock 5m passes and run the clock down. Taylor distribution poor throughout. Full backs who freeze when they go forward so turn back. Marquis will be back on the bench if he canât offer a goal threat or continues to fail to take chances presented. Evans the only player we have that can deliver the attacking passes needed, but was poor yesterday. Thomas a revelation since his return. A wake up call and realisation that with the oversized squad we have assembled comes an overinflated view of our current playing ability.

Lots of people seem to be knocking Loft, but he should of started yesterday. It's no coincidence that Stevenage beat Cambridge, we really needed that physical presence. Should of played Collins off Loft through the middle. Lofts flick on put Collins through on 60 minutes, there are times when we will need to mix things up and go more direct, or attack the second ball. We played into Cambridges hands, easy afternoon for thier defence. I notice Wigan have Wyke up top, he will probably see them promoted, he's exactly the kind of player we need.

After Sinclair came on we start to look useful in attack. He is a class player and I can only asume that he was on the bench as he can't cope with 2 full games per week fitness wise. If that is not the reason I am really puzzled why he is not the first name on the team sheet every week.Connor Taylor has, as always, been excellent in the air, but I am not convinced when he is defending on the ground. I feel he could have prevented the Charlton goal and seemed to be ball watching for the first goal yesterday. Wouldnt be surprised to see Wilson replace him next week. Now that Bogarde is back I hope he is a regular starter in place of Finlay.
